Ride to Meers, OK - Sept. 22

So, if weather is good, My Dad & I are going to make a run to Meers, OK for their burgers/food. Thinking of running Rt. 66 from Tulsa/Sapulpa to OKC, then I-44 down to Meers. After Meers, we want to go North up through Red Rock Canyon State Park in Hinton, OK. Anyone is welcome to join up. I know Pretzel, Skeeter, & Dewey have shown interest. We'll probably leave home around 7:00-7:30am (I'm guessing) to try and get to Meers by 11:30-12:00 for lunch. Looks like it's about 70 miles from Meers to Hinton. Haven't figured out the route home from there yet.

Not a problem. I'm getting ready to email another couple that ride a HD trike. They should come along too.

Question for ya... is 44 a toll road on the other side of OKC?

Looks like it. I've never been down that way. Doesn't look like there is a quick way to get there from OKC. We might be able to go South through Newcastle, then through Blanchard, Chickasha... then south on 81 to 17/277 West. Looks like it's 84 miles (1 hr 54 mins) from the exit for Newcastle to Meers.

BTW, how does meeting at the convenience store at the 66/33 junction sound? Meet there at 8:00?

It is, and depending on your timetable I have an alternate route that is a little longer but not by much, about 21 minutes longer and much more interesting than I-44 the whole way.

Also, from Meers to Hinton you HAVE to go through the wildlife refuge...it is a shame to go all that way and then go north from Meers. Again it adds about 30 minutes on the back end but an hour for much better ride seems worth it. BUT that adds to your already long day so let me know. Here is the route I would suggest.

Sounds good to me, Dewey! Where would be a good spot to meet you guys on your end? I've never been to that side of the city, so it's all new area to me. Once we meet up with you, we can let you lead the route down to Meers and out from there. Seems like you know the way around there. I think a trip up to the top of the hill/mountain would be a good stop too. I mean, since we're there and all, we might as well.

Not a problem. Looks like we follow Hwy 277 out of Chickasha all the way to Meers. Easy enough to look for road signs.

In the other post, sounded like he and his brother are coming along.

Really close to the tread wear stripes so a little anxious. Do the "tire ship out fast" dance for me!

There's still tread... Barely.
