They aren't chrome, they are aluminum and are very easily damaged. As you know they are outrageously expensive. I'd just remove all of them and any glue residue and call it good.

Thanks, did you need to heat them or just peel off and use a glue remover. Ithink I'll remove and have mine painted black, might look good.

Auto supply shops sell a chrome strip that will fit in there if you do want to replace it. Its sold by the roll for about $15.00

Mine did the same thing. I pulled them off and cleaned all the residue off. Then went to AutoZone and bought the chrome trim that the others are talking about. $15 and you can cut it to length to fit the bags. It looks way better than the stock crap they put on there. I also added some to the tip of the rear fender. Adds a nice touch to it, also.

If you want to keep the original stripes and just replace the one that is damaged you might find one at a detail shop or body shop. They have hundreds of different stripes in all widths and I've see the brushed aluminum ones like on the stock bags. I am sure they'd cut you a 24 inch length for no charge (unless they're cold hearted mercenary no good-niks)

If you decide to replace the factory one they are available through cheapcycleparts.com. My top right one is damaged as well, it was a little over $40 though last time I looked. I decided mine wasn't $40 damaged at this point.

We pulled all of mine and filled them when we repainted my bike. I like the smooth look.

I removed mine, like the look instead of the dull strip, might have to autozone and buy the chrome though. That is nice too!
