rear shock pressure?

Just wondering what everyone else is running, pressure wise in the rear shocks. I'm about 230 lbs. and running the dampening on setting 4, but have not messed with the air pressure yet. Just wanted to see what anyone was running the rear psi at on the shocks about my weight. Also are you all running the manual spec'd tire pressure for maximum tread wear? Thanks guys!

By myself I use no air on setting 3. Through trial and error I found 30 pumps with my hand pump on setting 4 works good if my wife rides with me She's about 150 I'm about 200. I don't know what the psi is because you check it once with the guage and 1/2 the air leaks out (unles you want to get a fancy pump) I know its not over max pressure because I did 35 pumps once checked it and it was 30-35 psi.

rear shock pressure?

I have 20# on #2 and I don't have a problem solo or with the "little lady" on it. She doesn't like to ride though.
A friend of mine rides with 0# pressure and is happy. I don't know what his rebound is set at.

25 pounds in each rear shock and rebound set at 3 works for me. Riding 2-up or solo. Get a "fancy" pump. they are worth it. If you blow out the air bag in the shocks it will cost you more to replace them than you can buy a pump for. Progressive makes the best one in my opinion and i bought mine through A&P cycles online.

Not sure what is in mine since I just bought it 2 weeks ago. It was set on a damping setting of 2. I guess it is time to get an air gauge and check it one of these days.

I go by the book as far as max settings go. I don't want to be a "test pilot". I bought a "fancy" pump for something like $20 at a bicycle shop. Well worth it.

you are supposed to raise the rear wheels off the floor before setting the pressure.

rear shock pressure?

I have the dampening on 3 and use 15 lbs in the air shock. I weigh 230. I tried it at 10 and 1 on the dampening and thought it was too soft in the corners. Moved it to 3 and liked it better, but still too soft. Tried 15 lbs and liked it but figured I should see if more was better. Tried 25 and it was firm in the corners but like riding a rock on freeway joints and bumps. 20 was better but my wife and I both thought it was still too much of a jolt when we hit rough expansion joints on the freeway (she was bouncing up in the air). So I settled on 15 lbs. I bump it up to 18 if we take a long trip, but in general find 15 works fine solo or with her on the bike.

Be carefulll when you check it..... you can lose 10 lbs just by checking it! Very sensitive!! Bike need to be held up straight too.... I messd with mine and went from 22 to 12 just by putting the gauge on and off......

Hey all. Ok never use a normal pump or a air hose or you will destroy your shock!!!!!!!!!!!! :-[. What you need is a zero loss pump. Which means that when you go to remove the pump from the valve it wont lose any air. NEVER check you air shock pressure with the bike on it's kickstand which will cause a false reading. (Trust me on this) Either set the bike in a upright position or upright with the rear wheel off the ground. I have the progressive zero lost pump works great. Cost $39.00+

I have mine set at rebound 3 with about 18LBS of air in each one. I have tired more and less and this setup seems to work for me best. Hope this helps....

The only time I worry about the pressure in mine is when I'm going on a long trip. It's just one of the small things I want to check out. I know I'm going to be loaded down heavier than normal. I don't think you should use a normal air gauge, there's not much air in the shock anyway and you don't want to lose any. IF your really so worried about pressure then go buy the right kinda pump. One that has a o-ring so that no pressure is lost putting pump on or off. example=Progressive Suspension Mini Gauge Pump

It may be just me but I can't tell the difference on a day to day biases what pressure I have, I just ride. To me it's just not big of deal. except when preparing for a trip...must be a mental thing

Hmm, wonder if the manual tells what the "norm" setting is. I guess I could also contact the dealer and ask what he set it up at.
