Light Bar Question

I have the fire and steel light bar, question is anyone who has a light bar ever have any problems with the bolts holding it on ? they seem pretty darn small to hold the extra weight of the bar and spot lights. only being 6mm.

I have a Cobra lightbar and it uses the stock bolts that held the oem signal light bar. Two little bolts as you mention. I never gave it a thought but mine has been on for 60,000 miles and hasn't fallen off yet.

ok, thanks. I know the bolts they sent had even smaller heads on them, I put SS studs in ALL THE WAY which was around 3/4" deep then used lock washers and an acorn nut. figured it would be better pulling on the 3/4" threads than the bolts they sent were 3/4" long and the plate on the bar looks to be 3/16" didn't make sense to me, for them to be tht short and with smaller heads

Post a picture. My FS lightbar mounts the same way as TCs cobra bar.

Yeah, what Jared said. Can you post a pic?
Sounds like your bar attaches different than ours

Well I will see if I can get a picture, it's a 2006 nomad screws up the bottom of the triple tree. is that the way yours goes on ? By the way, the light bar is for the Classic. I added to it to extend out 3/4" so it would not hit my lowers. the rear bolts with the acorn nuts are the ones that hold it on.

I have no idea what brand mine is/was but it bolted underneath (like yours) and also on the sides. Probably could have picked up the bike by the light bar. Doesn't seem like 2 bolts would be enough but if TC did it, then it must work.

Ok, I only have the two bolts holding mine as I didn't have to extend it.
If I am correct, you screwed two studs into the original holes and then put the lockwashers and cap nuts on.
If that is correct then you should have no trouble. The bolts holding mine on are stock.
You extended yours so the extra strength was a good idea. The further out from the bike the more stress on it I would think.

Chris, you must have read my thread on the lightbar I put on Cindy's bike.

I'd still think the lights would vibrate without the ends bolted to something. Ya'll don't get any vibration in them? Vibration will kill bulbs as well as drive ya batty going down the road.

The style of lightbar I have, a F&S bar, fastens with the two bolts underneath, and one on each end as well, it has always been quite secure that way.

Well it is a new day and my CRS has faded a bit.
I also have bolts on both sides of the lightbar to hold it along with the small ones underneath. The ones on the sides came with the bar.
Sorry for the confusion.
Your bar does not look to have bolts on the sides.

Yes that is exactly what I did, sounds like the bars you have with the additional two on the sides is a bettr idea. oh well, others seem to not be having any problems with this design.

Thank you everyone :)

My Cobra 04-0442 lightbar mounts with two bolts on each side, nothing underneath where the original turn signal bar mounted. The side bolts go into the windshield mounts. I wasn't happy with the fit, the holes in the lightbar didn't quite fit. I had to drill one out just a little bit to make all the bolts go in. I also had to buy some slightly longer bolts.

But I don't get any shaking!

I got mine from Chuckster's Customs. No problems, great product. I did replace the bulbs with brighter ones, but now they border on cruel.

The thing I do not like about chucksters is the wire showing. every picture I ever seen the wires just kill what can be a clean look with all wires completely hidden on the light bar. would have been much better if the lights he used, the wire came out the bottom post ( stem ) maybe they could be routed better then. I don't doubt that his mounts are secure I also only have $116 in a brand new fire & steel light bar with lights
