Ok guys, I got a new fairing and im in the process of installing the stereo. I have to use a constant hot wire, ground, and an ignition activated hot wire. I got the constant hot and ground figured out no problem.
my question is what is the best wire to hook into for the ingnition activated hot wire? where is it and what color is it? This is on a 2006 1600 nomad fi. your speedy responce is appreciated.

The constant hot wire is to run the clock and maintain the memory features. The switched hot is to power the unit. If it were me, I'd use a 12v automotive relay and run a dedicated and fused + wire from the battery to power the relay, and connect to the + wire to your running lamp circuit to trigger the relay. There are no available switched +12 v accessory circuits on the bike.

You could tap into the horn wire or the front marker light wire for the radio features. If you want to run more switched items use a relay, and fuse panel, and use one of the mentioned wires as a trigger for the relay.
There is a drawing in the Tech section that shows you how to connect a relay.
