Regional Group boards are buried now...

Seems like the regional boards are buried now within the new site.

Too bad we couldn't make it so they aren't. I wouldn't want to argue with the "Admin"; because whenever I have ever seen a suggestion... all you get is a defensive response.

Overall... with these boards being buried now, I can see where it will be difficult to keep things going. No new members will find it, in my opinion.

Just saying with "ramblings"....

How can it be hard to find? If you go to Vulcanbagger Forum in the top Lh of the page and click on it, all the boards appear and you scroll down to the ones you want to read.
Even clicking on the new posts will show you which board the thread is on.
Once your familiar with the layout, I don't think its much different than it used to be.

That's your opinion Greg... and only an opinion. And I'm not surprised to see blueraven jumping in. Anything negative said about this group or forum and he's right on the spot.

Guys, if the VBA and the forum were yours, then you could do with it what you want.... but it's not. You were not charged a penny to get in here so why do you think everything should be the way YOU want it?

My suggestion is accept the changes, work with everything and everybody and be a little more positive. Everyone has to accept some change in their lives. Why do you guys have to be so negative with the group and the forum? Both of you have made your points about how you feel. Get over it and move on!

All this bitching by a select few is getting to be an embarrassment. All it's doing is showing the immaturity of some to all the new members, Kawasaki Corp reps that log in here and the majority of VBA members that are just happy to be a member of a group that they can talk Vulcans with FREE OF CHARGE.

It's time you guys count your blessings, consider the hard work that's been put into this group by many people and be an asset instead of a liability.

I really hate to agree with you Trip ,,,,,,,,, but I agree with you. You could have called the new place, "Dave, Greg and Scott are Traitors" for all you know..

I agree with not agreeing in the name and I only had to say it once. Now twice...

See what happens when you mark something down to "free" That's how socialism works...

You are correct TC and when I am finacially able I too will join the lifetime member status. My hours have been cut back from 25 to 20 a week so times are a little harder.

I've said it before and I'll say it here again...

Guys, get over it. The changes are already in place. Bitching and whining aren't going to bring anything back. Move forward - don't languish in the past.

Keep in mind that anything you pay to the forum, stays with Mike to help with expenses on the forum.... it doesn't go to the VBA. Anything a member donates from the VBA website goes to the VBA.

Ah, a usability discussion. Greg: There good reasons to limit top level containers/categories/links as it makes cumbersome. Generally the sweet spot is 4-7 items. With that in mind, the site is still a little cluttered, but trip is going in the right direction. To put it in a motorcycle context, have you ever looked at the controls and buttons on a Goldwing? Too many to memorize and think about while riding. It's a very poor design. It's like a flat file versus a hierarchical design. The idea is to limit the amount of time for a user to "sort out" where they need to go. The more items on the top level, the worse it gets. Conversely, keeping things to a depth of 2 to 3 levels is about right. A user should never have to make more then 3 clicks to get where they need to go.

Can it be improved? Yes. Will it be? Yes. May be the admin should work with a focus group of VBA members on the design and test changes with them. On one hand a sampling from the group will have input into design changes and the design is more likely to work for everyone. Then again, what do I know, I am just a network monkey.

Ok. You said "network" and "monkey" in the same sentence. You could very well be my next hero.

Don't worry caper.... we'll all get along sooner or later. It's my job to keep a safe and open atmosphere here on the forum.

Bottom line is, Mike and I both don't mind anyone coming to us with suggestions and comments on how to improve things. After we consider the issue and make a decision, that's the way it is. We do this for the betterment of the group. We all can't get our way all the time.

All of the bitching I'm seeing now is over issues already considered and decisions that have been made. If the bitching and cheap shots continue by a certain few, then I'll be forced to keep the peace with other means. I've done it before... it's no problem for me to do it again.
