Sticker shock on Tolls

Just got back to PA, returned from a great ride to Indiana. A little over 1,400 miles round trip. Bike did super. What I didn't realize was how much tolls had gone up. Took PA turnpike from Harrisburg to Ohio turnpike across to Indiana to a short stint on the Indiana turnpike to Rt.69 S to Ft. Wayne. $77.00!!! total round trip!!

All the toll roads in Dade County FL have a new camera system where overhead cameras take a picture of your license plate and they mail you a toll bill. I guess the trunk overhanging the license plate on the Nomad saved me some green on the Key West ride. :-)

It says in the list that Vermont has 3 toll roads.

1. Toll road on private road to the top of Mt. Equinox.

2. Toll road on private road to the top of Mt. Mansfield.

3. Toll road on private road to the top of Buke Mt.

4. Toll bridge shared with New Hampshire in Windsor.

These are for sightseeing reasons and not for regular travel.
Come to Vermont and spend some time and money.

No toll roads out here! I know CA and CO have some, but mostly the west is toll road free.

After doing some research I want to share info on EZ Pass purchased in PA. When you order one for a specific motorcycle it will get you a 25% discount on PA tolls. That would have saved me $9.05 on my round trip alone. It is $6. a year to have one and is usable in 14 northeastern states. I think the Turnpike commission deserves an "atta boy" on giving cycles a break.

The Sunpass in FL gives a discount also. It's good on some parking also.

Thanks for the Tip! Did the rest of the states accept eZpass on your route? I am planning to head to Oshkosh WI next summer from Lansdale, PA and would be taking pretty much the same route you did, then turning north and running up past Chicago. I have a friend in Dayton, so I'm planning an overnight there.

Tolls haven't gotten far to expensive for me. I will always try to avoid any toll road or bridge.

Hi Rob, The EZPass is good for 14 states in the northeast. You are a PA resident and the turnpike EZPass web site is www.paturnpike.com where they list all the states. For me the convenience to NJ alone is reason to have it. I stated earlier that the charge is $6 a year - there is actually no annual cost if you elect automatic refill of your $35 account when balance goes to $10. They will charge you $4 a month if you require a paper statement every month. Jim

Good reason to stay off the Super slab and take more scenic byways.

Oklahoma has a lot of toll roads... but they are used to make the politicians more money. You can't find a toll road in OK that isn't under construction or in dire need of repair! And, the construction will last for a minimum of a year. I think our most expensive toll road is from Tulsa to OKC (100 miles) and it is $4 each way for Class 2 vehicles. It goes up from there... to $20 for semi trucks.
