How can this happen?

Are you kiddin' me. This pos is worried that this may be the end of his career as a police officer. ::) He killed one person and put two others in the hospital. His BAC was twice the legal limit and he was on duty. He has had 4 other accidents while in pursuit. Get him off the streets.
He should be in jail.
The higher ups are deciding what "if anything" is going to be done.
You know damn well they are going to protect their own and he will get a freekin slap on the wrist and told he was a bad boy. :(" title="" border="0"/>
If it was you or me, where do you think we would be now.

How can this happen?

DWI charges dropped. :(" title="" border="0"/>

The police at the scene didn't realize he had been drinking. ::)
His bac was 19% for crying out loud . Someone smelled it and the coverup began. If you don't do things by the book then the evidence is not admissible. Guess how they got the DWI thrown out.
They knew what they were doing from the git go.

They need to change their motto. It should be "To Serve and Protect Our Own".

I believe this to be 100% true.

What bothers me the most in situations like this is there had to have been a supervisor on scene. In the private business world, that would have been such a screw up for botching such a major procedure, he would would have lost his job for total incompetence.

As a former police officer, this shames me. Certainly officers will protect other officers and they should, but this is beyond the pale. Covering his back is one thing...covering his tail is another. Prosecute and punish is the right way to go.

How can this happen?

I am a bit ticked-off because I saw five police cars (paid by taxpayers) parked in the street at his home so they could give the support and condolences.

These are taxpayer-paid public servants on taxpayers time-clock driving taxpayers vehicles spending "personal-time" to talk to their "buddy".

BS... fire them all. Certainly there was other important duties needing to be done at that time while they were on the time-clock... like maybe checking the bars for other police officers drinking while on duty!! :(" title="" border="0"/>

Unfortunately, it is not just this officer who gets off after killing someone by their drunkenness. Far too many drivers have numerous DUIs, and even kill people, and just get handslaps.

How can this happen?

Recently I read that when a animal kills a human, we hunt it down and kill it.
How come when a human kills a human [if found guilty] we house them and
nuture them and let them go after a year or two? So they can become
productive citizens?
Come on!!!

If he was a truck driver that killed someone drunk while driving a truck he would be in jail without bond. I want to know where was his fellow officers ? I don't think this was his first time being drunk on the job. Could not another cop detect a problem with this guy. I am not attacking
all officers. just the ones who helped this guy to stay on the force as long as he did. I do have family members and friends that are good cops.
