I like that idea, Im sure some thugs will think twice in those states. An even playing field is bound to make them think before they act.

Yep. I am still going to obtain my permit so I can carry in more than in the other three states.

I've often wonder about States that allow this. Does anyone really carry out in the open without the police hassling you every 10 feet?

Utah should be on that list. Anyone can conceal carry in Utah, but you need a permit to open carry hear.

Here in Utha if you open carry, you will get the police called on you. But, the police can't do much about it. There are several students at UVU, the college I attended, who open carry on a regular bases. Not too sure why they would want to. Probably about 10% of the students conceale carry.

Most of the folks that open carry here are generally trying to make some kind of point. The only point I really see is that the bad guy will know and knock you on your ass from behind before you have the chance to do anything.

Yes, Dave - people actually enjoy freedom outside of the People's Republic of California.

In AZ anyone who is not prohibited from owning a handgun can carry open or concealed. I see folks carrying all over the place.

They are trying to pass a law here now allowing students and faculty members to carry in colleges and universities. This week, one of the survivors of the VA Tech shootings was here to speak against this bill. He said he was hiding behind a table and was shot 4 times. He thinks it will only make things worse if students and faculty were armed.

Really? How did being unarmed and defenseless work out for ya?

Agree with cactusjack. You see it all the time in Arizona. I don't even think twice about it anymore. I used to carry open, but the weight of a nickel .357 magnum with a 6" barrel was just a bit much.

I'll occasionally carry my .380 semi auto, but don't make a habit of it.

Still nice to know you can if you want to. Cops won't bother you in the least. I've been pulled over in my truck before with the .357 loaded and on the dash. I told the cop the gun was there and the hammer was sitting on a live round. He said "it aint much good if it aint loaded".

True story.

Oh yeah, this wasn't a townie either. One of Sheriffs Joe Arpaio's finest. For those of you not familiar with Sheriff Joe, do a google on him. Quite the controversial character who doesn't believe in mollycoddling prisoners/criminals. He makes for some interesting reading for sure. Love him or hate him. He's Sheriff Joe.

A lot of states have "open carry" but depending on the state, they can mess with you. Wisconsin used to be known, under Tommy Thompson, to discourage open carry by having police arrest you for 'Disturbing the Peace' since they couldn't nail you for open carry.

Don't know how well that held up in court, and I definitely don't agree with it.

In NY State you can not open carry. So if you get your permit it is a concealed carry.
My Dad was stopped by the State Police at a road check point and had his 38 on the seat. The LEO asked him if it was loaded and he replied "if I wasn't going to have it loaded I might as well have a club" LEO said, good point

I don't open carry, although it is legal in LA. Very seldom see open carry here. Bad thing about open carry is if your shirt partially covers it and you don't have a CC permit, you will be in a world of trouble. Legal concealed carry is encouraged by the governor and LEO.

Nevada is "open carry" also. However, it's guaranteed that if you open carry on the Strip you will end up nose down on the 120 degree concrete followed 10 minutes later by an apology. Nose done on the concrete nonetheless.

Most open carry people are trying to make a point and that's their right. However, concealed carry is the way to go if you don't want your nose burned in Nevada.
