Crazy cat

My wife went to leave for work this morning, and I walked her out to the car. I was headed back into the garage and I could hear a cat crying. My wife wasn't in the car yet and she heard it too. We looked under the car and couldn't see anything, but we could hear it. The cat had climbed up into her rear bumper. It is in the very low 30's this morning with a cold wind, so the cat probably climbed up there to get out of the weather.

We believe it's my wife's cat, which must have somehow got out of the house last night. We tried luring her out with food, to no avail. I got a flashlight and looked inside the bumper and can see some of the cat. I don't know if she can get herself out of there, it's pretty tight and I can't even get my hand up in there. So I told my wife to take my car to work since I am working from home today. I pulled her car in the garage and shut the door and left a bowl of food thinking maybe the smell would bring her out. If not, I'm going to have to dismantle the bumper to get the cat out. At least it's warmer in the garage.

Cats will crawl into some unusual places sometimes. I imagine that you will be dissassembling the bumber most likely. When I was a kid a cat crawled up on top of the driveshaft and got stuck against the hump in the floor. Nobody new until the car drove off, and the cat started screaming from being rubbed against the driveshaft. It wasn't a good ending for this cat.

I hope so, she's way up in there, between the bumper cover and a crossmember. I really don't want to have to tear it apart.

If you can access the opposite side from where you saw the cat, and have an air compressor, take your blowdown nozzle and aim a little air in its face, likely it will back out the way it went in.

Crisis averted! My wife came home from work and coaxed her out within 10 minutes. She wouldn't budge for me, so I'm not wasting any more of my money on that high-end cat food my wife thinks she deserves.

I think what he means is it took your wife ten minutes to get what you tried your best and couldn't get all day log. I hope you at least got the house vacuumed, the bed made and the dishes done.
