Trike Conversions

Buying trikes is expensive. Converting them isn't cheap either.

Does anyone have experience with conversions?

I was looking at this site. Looks like around $9000 for my '08 Kawasaki Nomad.

http://www.triketraders.com

My main interest is in having a more comfortable ride so my wife can join me more often. She is on oxygen and having to stop, get off the bike, and swap out the tanks is a bit of a project. It would be a lot easier for her if she could just stay on a trike for swapping oxygen tanks.

And, whatever is easier for her is a whole lot better for me.

:-)

I'd probably rather do a full conversion than just the training wheels temporary type.

Hannigans sidecars look more economical than a trike conversion.

Thanks for the comments and for the links. That conversion looked pretty sharp. Same color as my Nomad.

The dealer at the link I posted is about an hour from me. When it warms up a bit, I'll take a run up to talk with them.

Which is the dealer you checked out? What was the price they show? If I keep riding with my arthritis I may very well have to look at those options.

Trike Conversions

I really haven't made a decision yet on whether to do a trike, but I'm moving one step closer.

Tomorrow morning, I'm going to run up to Lakeland to look at Hannigan conversions at one dealer and then to another dealer to see an Intra Trike setup with removable training wheels.

It will be permanent and about $10K vs temporary and about $4K.

Trike Conversions

I placed my order today for a Hannigan Trike kit. I'm really impressed with the dealer. It's a father & son dealership.

http://www.triketraders.com/

I went up there last week and got an OTD quote of $10,459.20. I'd also stopped at an Insta Trike (training wheels) outlet.

After I made the decision to go with the full conversion, I rode my bike up to the dealer today to finalize the deal.

It turned out, after he called the factory, that the stock exhaust won't work with the Hannigan kit. Something to do with the box (converter?) that the exhaust goes into before exiting the pipes.

Apparently V&H pipes are necessary to install the kit. The dealer immediately said I'll eat that myself in order to honor the price that I quoted you.

That impressed the heck out of me!! If anyone wants to look at a trike, I'd sure recommend Shaun as being a stand-up guy.

Anyway, I paid half up front. The kit should be available at the end of March or beginning of April.
