Do I need a new Clutch

I have an 06 Nomad with 26K miles. My clutch reacts the same with all lever settings. I have recently noticed my clutch lever almost completely disengaged before the engine will start to move the motorcycle forward. Nearing the end, I notice a little jump depending on throttling. It seems as though I have very minimal gray area to feather the clutch.
My question is whether I need a new clutch or some adjustment like the springs as discussed on this site. Then, if I'm already in there should I just replace the clutch. My feeling is that I'm going to need a clutch soon and should replace it if I'm already there. Any suggestions?

You may need to change the brake fluid first. If its slipping youll need a new spring, I doubt youll need new discs and plates as they rarely wear enough.
The part numbers are available here on the tech board section.

If namelama doesn't need it, put me next in line please. How much are they?

Thanks,

Pete

I'm with Ring in changing out the fluid. Look in the sight glass and see if it is getting dark. It is quite possible with that many miles you need to change out the brake fluid and bleed the lines.

Won't changing the clutch fluid be better?

Thanks guys for all the help. I'll be replacing the spring with a Barnett MT-25 and the fluid. I'll follow-up with an update.

You'll like the Barnett MT-25.

When you change the fluid, there is a small passage in the bottom of the master cylinder which plugs up. Some thing thin, like an E string from a guitar, works well clearing the passage.

Find that passage and make sure it is clear otherwise you may still have a problem when you are finished.

Well, I replaced the clutch spring with a Barnett MT-25 and the brake fluid as well. There was a significant difference in the clutch lever travel and the clutch engaging. I would encourage the change as it is a positive one. The actual job as gadget described was instrumental in the procedure. Definately recommended!

Glad you were able to accomplish it. Sounds like you didn't encounter much of a problem.
