Earthquake here today

We were at work about 1:30pm and a lot of the staff felt the school shake for about ten seconds. I never noticed it but it was felt from Windsor to Quebec, thats over 600 miles. They said it was a 5.0 on the scale, I guess Id need about a 10 for me to catch it. Thats about the third earthquake thats happened around here over the years and Ive yet to notice one.
Its probably like sitting on a Harley.

Earthquake here today

Glad Everyone Is Alright

(June 23) -- A magnitude-5.0 earthquake rattled the Canadian cities of Ottawa and Toronto early this afternoon, shaking office buildings, breaking windows and sending tremors as far as Flint, Mich.; Columbus, Ohio; and Albany, N.Y.,

Earthquake here today

I've felt some here....we are on the New Madrid Fault and about 30-35 miles southeast of Reelfoot lake which was formed years ago by an earthquake causing the Mississippi to flow backwards. :-/
Glad no damage.

Earthquake here today

I didn't feel this one, I happened to be driving in the car at the time. We have had them in the past and I remember one a number of years ago in the Laurentians north of Montreal.
Best way to describe it was like a freight train deep down passing under the cottage. A low rumble in the distance intensifying and shaking the house as it passed and then dying down. The strangest part a bunch of us were all sitting around in the cottage at the time. No one moved, no one said a word, we all just looked at each other with a "WTF" dopey look on our faces.

Earthquake here today

Then later on last night a couple tornados touched down in the area. The closest one was about 40 miles from me.
I think the neighbourhood is going downhill in the natural disaster department. ;)
