First Ride 2008

I went for a little 50 miles loop with my wife today. It was her first ride for 2008. The nomad handled good with the shocks set on 4 with no air. This was the first ride I had taken with my wife in a long time (several months) I was surprised how much better the bike handled with the extra 135 pounds on the back Steering was much more responsive at it tracked a nice straight line through the curves. No correcting like it does with just me. The only negative were slow speeds ( 10 mph) had a really nasty wobble. anything above that was fine. On I-80 we ran 85-90 indicated speed. She had fun and said she's looking forward to going down to Laughlin in 2 1/2 weeks.

I'm amazed that you say the Nomad seems better 2 up, i have not ridden with a pillion yet, as i have not ridden in many years i thought it was safer to get my skills back before putting the wife on the back, i am more concerned with the slow tight turns with a pillion.

Driving straight I didn't even notice her on there. The curves definitely felt better. I still have the stock tires on and run max pressure. Someone else was saying they thought it handled better 2 up as well (forgot who)

I just came back from my second ride. Would love to have the wife with me but shes sick. The new pipes are a little loud if I crank on it but cruising sounds mellow. Also have a new 880 Metzler on it handles really good. In three weeks we will be in Myrtle Beach golf and taking the bikes in a trailer.

I too went for a short ride this morning about 10 miles,I had to run up to the Masonic Lodge for a few minutes and check on something, so I took the bike, mainly to warm up the oil, as I changed it as soon as soon as I got home. It sure felt good to be riding again!

First Ride 2008

I went for my first ride yesterday afternoon. It wasn't anything close to being a good day. I rode just to spite the weather. It was a short one of about 20 miles and just enough to start re-polishing the rusty skills.

I can't wait for weather to warm up and for the ground to dry up. It's been reported as being colder than average and wetter than average. I hope the rest of the summer gets better.

Jeepers - You might want to edit your thread. Something about the image of a "fist ride" conjures up some bad image.
