The town of Rugby is the geographical center of North

North Dakota has the highest number of millionaires
per capita than any other state, and not a yuppie to
be found anywhere.

Did you know that North Dakota leads the nation in the
production of just about everything. The state is
first in spring wheat, durum wheat, sunflowers,
barley, a dry edible beans, pinto beans, canola,
flaxseed, all dry edible peas, honey, lentils and
oats.

Did you know that the highest temperature ever
recorded in North Dakota was 121 degrees at Steele in
July of 1936? Or that the lowest was -60 degrees at
Parshall during the last ice age (kidding, but not
about the temperature) in February 1936?

The fastest-growing city in the state is West Fargo,
which has soared from 14,910 residents in 2000 to more
than 21,000 last year.

What is the Sturnella neglecta? It's the scientific
name of the state’s bird. Can you name it? It's the
western meadowlark, a songbird often found on fence
posts or sign chirping away.

Courses per capita than any other state?

I love it! I knew most of those, but I learned a few things. Our economy is booming right now due to the oil industry. My wife works for the city, and she has done several phone interviews with the New York Times about the state's economy.
Our state needs all the workers it can get right now. If you can drive a truck, you can move here and make 80,000 a year right now hauling water to drilling rigs. The only problem is, there is no housing. Houses can't be built fast enough. As an example, in our town of 1300 people, houses that sold for $50,000 ten years ago are now selling for $130,000.
Thanks for this post, Gene! I know a lot of people in this country think that we don't have running water, we ride horses to work, and all we have is severe cold!

I bought my Nomad when I lived in ND; got my handle in ND. The soil there is a farmer's dream. Still have good friends there. Winter can be a bit harsh, but there are off sets.

I may live in Alabama but if things were different I would definitely live in one of the western states. There is some beautiful country to see out west. Also some might fine people too.

I was wondering if the "nd" in your name stood for "North Dakota." Good to know!

Prairie Cruiser, when I drove an 18 wheeler I had a trip to Inkster, ND but I barely missed going into South Dakota. South Dakota, Montana and Hawaii are the three states that I haven't been in. You guys that live out in the western states may not really know how lucky you are.
