After 3 years with this fairing I finally decided to install a stereo, any suggestions on brand/speakers. Might consider marine radio so I won't have to fumble with the cover while driving plus with risers installed cover does not open all the way.

I recommend the Marine use radios, since they are designed for boats, so they are built to repel water and may have upgraded internals for boats hitting waves. I just bought a Kenwood marine radio on ebay for $80.00

Not sure about the Pioneer Deck on the Premuex - mine still works but? If it croaks I will try a better Marine unit with a hard wired remote. The one I have eats batteries and works intermittently. Now, the Sirius Sattelite Radio - now that I like!!!

I've got a JVC deck with remote and 5.5" speakers. I like it very much but will probably change it to just have my blackberry connected to a small amp and playing the tunes of got loaded in it (over 600 songs)

This way I can listen to what I want and don't have to pay any satellite access fees

I love my new Sirius radio. $12 or $13 a month ain't that much money. Many people spend more than that on smokes or alcohol in a couple days. Just depends on your priorities. I don't have a fairing. But I love my radio with the Pyle speakers and 200 watt amp. Whole system was less than $200. And I love not having to listen to commercials. Never cared for I-pods or Mp3s, or wires connecting into my helmet. But that's just me. Jamie

I have a JVC KD-870 Arsenal (they no longer off it, but they do have newer versions of it) It sounds great, and the two features I like best about it, 1) there's a USB plug on the face, I just load my tunes onto a memory stick, and plug it right in the face of the unit, and 2) a wireless infrared remote. It does control the unit with the bubble cover closed (radio isn't a marine unit). I replace the battery about once every 10-12 months. I have 4 6 1/2" Polk DB 650 speakers ,2 in the fairing, and 2 in pods mounted on the trunk. Polk speakers are marine rated, and they do sound great. I've had this set-up for 4 years now, and all in all, I'm VERY pleased with my set-up. ;)
If I had it to do over again, I would probably go with a digital media player (no CDs) or one that accepted the SD cards. Neither were offered 4 years ago, but they're out now.

Thanks for all the great input, multi media marine unit with Sat would be ideal down side is finding a reasonably priced unit, a remote is a must as the cover does not open all the way with rises but if you use a marine unit cover would not be necessary.
What does HD use in their bikes?
I have a Premeux Fairing and have yet to separate it, will they take 6.5 speakers and how does the grill fit once the hole is
cut out. Just a little leary cutting the speaker holes in the fairing.
I am taking a 5000 mile trip in June a tunes would be nice.

Harley uses a Harmon Kardon unit that allows the use of the hand controls on the handlebars. They do not give you any type of cover, although the cd slot is covered.

I just did a quick search on eBay and found this Sony unit that is a marine player. I don't know if it comes with a remote, but they offer a remote. And its XM ready
