Yosemite Trip
It's been a month since we rode to Yosemite. I've processed all 286 photos and finally ready to post the photo essay of the trip.
Packed and ready to go. Taking the I215 bypass around Las Vegas. Doesn't look like it but this is the way to avoid the Strip. NW of the Strip. Still on the 215 Finally on Hwy 95 with LV behind us. On Hwy 6 heading for California. Hwy 6 Hwy 6 Hwy 6 California Hwy 120. A great lonely place to ride. 30+ miles all by ourselves and I mean we did not see another soul until we stopped for lunch. Lots of these and woopty-doos Lunch stop by Mono Lake After spending the night in Lee Vining, CA we start up the the mountains to the Tioga Pass (almost 10K feet) Little bit of last years snow still in the mountains. High elevation valley A little 8000 acre planned burn turned into 80,000 acres. Some smoke and fire trucks were still around. El Capitain right ahead Looking down on the road that brought us here. No matter where you look there's a Kodak moment. Spent two days hiking. This is the top of Sentinel Dome. Half Dome. Hiking to Taft Point Had to look over the edge. More over the edge stuff The edge Lunch stop Half Dome view right beside the road. Blue skies and sunny days until it was time to go home. Left on a misty cold morning. North of Fresno hoping to avoid a cloudburst. We went home through Californina. Between Yosemite and Fresno there are allot of twisties throught the Sierra Nat'l. Forest. From Fresno to home was four lane slab. Bakersfield, CA on the 14th of September was 59 degrees. It was a good place to stop for lunch. It wasn't until we reached the Mojavi desert before we took the liners out of our draft jackets. South of Bakersfield racing the rain to the pass. I15 North of Barstow, Ca. Racing the sunset home. Turn right at the first casino and six more miles till home. Home. Five days 1,140 miles of which 420 were the last day. Sleep in our own bed tonight. We did not have a single problem with the Nomad. Mileage was from a low of 30 MPG to a high of 44 MPG. My seat was comfortable as was the seating position with the new risers and highway pegs. The pillion I'm told became a bit uncomfortable on the 420 mile ride home which resulted in a couple more stops. The intercom system worked well and interfaced with the GPS well. Music was saved on the GPS and that worked OK with the intercom also although sound quality wasn't anything to write home about. OK . . . I need some input . . . too many pictures or not? The plan is a Death Valley day trip next month.

Really great pictures! I'm jealous. Hope someday my wife and I can see that part of the country.
Thanks for the post!

Yosemite Trip
Stan,
This past August on my ride home from San Bernardino, CA, I over-nighted in Bakersfield just so I could ride through Yosemite Valley to Lee Vining, then north up 395 enroute home to Everett, WA. That is some really gorgeous country in there. I have to admit I never got off the bike to hike anywhere, but I did get off in a couple places to snap some photos. I have one identical to your Kodak moment Valley photo, as I'm sure everyone who has ever visited does! Very cool pics....and I did not get tired of looking so just right! I would encourage everyone to make the trip if you have not done so. I only wish I had taken the time to see the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Maybe on another trip....but I was in a hurry to get home after 11 days in San Bernardino umpiring in the Little League Western Regional Tournament... !

The pics probably don't do justice to the scope of what you saw in person. I could look at more pics but I would suggest a photobucket account or something similar. We can choose how we view. I like the slideshow feature and you can still caption and edit your pics. I look forward to seeing these places in person. Thanks for sharing.
