Off road video from ride a couple of days ago

Here is a video clip of a 10 mile off road excursion on a dirt road. Great scenery of Colorado Rockies.

I am glad you do that and film it so I will never be tempted to try that!!!

You had to deal with some fairly good-sized boulders along the way. A couple of them looked like they could take you down if you hit them wrong.

Dan, have you ever done the Phantom Canyon road near Victor and Cripple Creek? I've ridden it twice by pickup truck and the scenery is gorgeous with alot of history along the route. The gravel road is pretty decent too.

It's really not bad that I can remember Bud. The climbs aren't very steep. It was raining one of the times I rode it. The road is wide enough for two vehicles to cross each other except for the original railroad bridge and a couple of rock tunnels. It's a nice adventure.

Have done several of those roads but on my vn800 (easier to pick up) but never really had much of a problem other than tearing the kick stand spring ou. The kick stand kill switch has never worked the same, or at all for that matter. Those roads do have the best of the scenery, no mistaken that. Where were you BTW, could have been any of a couple hundred roads around here.

And I thought the construction zones going through RNP were rough, nice fall colors!

Ells, It's been since 1993, but I was in Canon City, CO and rode it up to Victor, CO. The link brings you to the site with pictures and maps.

That fits, but hey, I thought that you have only be riding for a year or so, or do I have you confused with some other hopeless Nomadic.

No, I've only been riding for a year and a half. I rode the Phantom in one of my earlier pickups, a 1979 Toyota 4 x 4. And I stated earlier that the last time was 1993, actually it was 1983. So it's been a while since I've been that way. I was in Manitou Springs about 7 years ago with a couple of my grandsons. We stayed at a rustic little lodge at the edge of town. Rode the cog up to the summit of Pikes. Lots of snow piled up in April.

Dan, Dan, Dan,

It's more like an invitation. They seem to me to say, "there is something really cool up here, but we made it look uninviting to keep the riff raff out, but it's really worth going up here and seeing, come on up!" That's what it all seems to say to me :)

gl, I must say that it looks a whole lot easier on the video than it was. I was surprized how easy it looked on video. The rocks are a lot bigger than they look at speed on video, and you really have to pick your route and make decisions very quickly.

It was a lot steeper than it looks on video and the reason I was moving along quickly was to keep momentum. If I videoed more going up, you would see a lot more lane shifts from right to left and back as I went around rocks that looked too big, or too lose. Doing that at speed, not wanting to lose momentum was a lot harder than the video makes it seem. I was really surprised that the video made it look like a walk in the park.

terrebonne, I haven't ridden that road. I went down to Victor once and saw that there was a lot of choices like that, but haven't been back yet. I got your link from your other post, and filed it away in my mind.

Here is a video of some shots I took in the Victor area. They should look familiar to you.
