lowering kit

Did a search and found only two things :'(

Thinking about selling my nomad and was trying to find out about lowering kits for it, price and name of kits.
This is for my '01 1500.

Thanks in advance,
Bill

lowering kit

Bill, when I lowered my 1500 classic (previous bike) I did it with new shorter progressive shocks in the rear and progressive front spring kit in the forks. I know thats how most 1500 classic owners lowered their classics. Wouldn't think the nomads would be much different?

The lowering kit for a Nomad is called "buy a shorter set of $hock$". Some bikes can be lowered easily and inexpensively with a set of bones. Unfortunately, the Nomad isn't one of them.

Can the triple trees be loosened and then slide the forks up into them further, say an inch and then torqued back down?
This might take care of the front anyway. How expensive are the shorter shocks?

They are not cheap. I'll let someone who has bought some give you a better idea of the cost.

progressive has a few differnet models. the ones I put on my classic were about $230.00 for the rear shocks and I believe the front kit was about $100 - $150.00. the shocks i ordered for the rear were JUST springs and did not have an "air adjustment" like the stock nomads. progressive does sell shocks that are similar to the nomads with air adjust but it isn't necessary to have that feature and to be honest the progressive shocks I used were superior to the stock shocks and performed very well. the ones I used were also the cheapest that progressive had, I could have spent hundreds more but didn't see the necessity.
one thing for sure, changing out your stock springs and shocks your bike will handle better. Be warned though, lowering your bike it will ride much stiffer.

you can go to this link and see what fits your bike. For my 2001 1500 classic the 11.5" length was the shock to use if you wanted to lower the bike.

Thanks guys, I have a lady looking at it and its a little tall so considering options. I told her I also have a guy who could shave a little out of the stock seat and recover it, so that may be the way to go.
Thanks for the input, Bill ;)
