Riding in the rain

Some think I am nuts, but I love riding in the rain. I get my suit on, pull that hood in tight, crank up the tunes and do the old singing in the rain. Anyone else enjoy a good rain ride??

I did one last summer, not by choice but ended up in a downpour and as it subsided, I actually saw grazing on the side of the road but a 12 point buck about 20 feet from the road. I have to tell you, I squeezed some cheeks that day (sorry for the mental picture there). Anyhow, just thinking out loud.

Riding in the rain

I don't hate riding in the rain. Here in Colorado summers, if you don't ride in the rain, you don't ride, as afternoon thunderstorms are pretty common.
What I do hate about it, is cleaning and polishing all that chrome AFTER riding in the rain.

Yep. The cleaning after is the worst part!

Riding in the rain

I love to ride but not in the rain. First there is the danger factor. Just never feel as comfortable with wet roads. People in cars are invinsible and speed up when it rains not realizing they can't stop nearly as fast as they think. I remember trying to pass 18 wheelers on interstates during rain or with them just being wet. I just don't enjoy not being able to see when I ride. Then there is the dirty cycle part. You would think with all that water they would get clean but no, just dirty.

I don't mind riding in the rain, but that doesn't mean I'll go riding looking for a storm.

Riding in the rain

Ive done my share of it, especially this summer. Id rather avoid it if I could because of the safety factor with cars around and cleaning afterwards.

Washing? We don't need no stinking washing!

Except for downpours which cause standing water, rain is not a bother unless I've forgotten my rain gear.

I was even surprised to hear my wife answer a question about our recent 2-wheeled vacation. When asked about rain--seems to be a standard question--she said that it really doesn't make a difference.

I DO sit out thunderstorms.

Riding in the rain

I like riding in the rain if it's not a major thunder storm. Julie and I rode through the mountains around Eureka Springs in the rain, and it is still one of our best rides. We got caught in a thunder storm in Oklahoma that was one of the worst rides, so it all depends on the circumstances.
