Warranty /debaffle

Ok, after having my nad for a year I decided to do the debaffle. I completed it in short order yesterday and like the sound.
Now as usual I have a question after the fact. How does this effect my warranty. I know a little late to worry now...lol

Warranty /debaffle

It won't. Any failure would have to be attributable to the debaffling as the cause for the warranty to even come into question. You took out a foot of pipe. I don't think it will be an issue.

Isn't it tampering with an emissions device? I remember something in the shop manual about that. I don't remember if it said it would void the warranty, but technically, it would be an EPA or CARB violation.

Yes, Ponch - technically it is tampering with an emissions device. A federal offense.

After I debaffled mine, I bought a low-mileage set of un-modified pipes - just in case.

Warranty /debaffle

To have anything void warrenty it has to be related... If you de-baffel and the U joint in the drive shaft goes bad before warrenty is up, warrenty should still be in effect.

If you sizzel the engine because you made the engine leaner than is was, which it likey was and is a littler more lean now, then you be out of luck.

It might be you lost coolant and cooked the engine, but the de-baffel will break the deal.

All but the bad U joint isn't very likely. The U Joint is anys guess, and should be checked out the first time you change a rear tire.

If your state has emmisions testing, you could be in for a bad time, but a modded up fat washer could be considered a baffel.

A bolt crossing from the top to the bottom, or left right could be considered a baffel, basicly anything so you can't stuff a night stick up the pipe is a baffel.

Not worried about the emissions part. Was just curious as to any warranty issues. Thanks

Warranty /debaffle

I was worried about the same issue before debaffling mine Dawg. I talked to the service manager at the dealership where I bought it and he advised against it. I called and spoke to a technician with Kawasaki and he told me that it shouldn't be a problem. He then told me that if I had a torque or low power issue then it would have to be returned to stock condition before they would pay for troubleshooting. He said that was the only concern. I then took the plunge about 1 year and a month ago. No problems since. I just had warranty work done for a leaking pinion seal and nothing was mentioned. I did remove my trailer hitch before I brought it in though.

if Makaw wants to blame a problem on your de-buggled pipes, they will. They will find anything to avoid paying a warranty issue, IF possible.

Doc, they can't. Consumers are protected under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act.

Yeah.....They will even tell you that don't have a problem or that your problem is normal....like in my case.
Just chiming in here..For the record....When I took my bike in for the vibration problem I have...I DID take it in debaffled and there was never a word mentioned about it....Don't really think they even noticed.
