Tires for the 1500

I know this has been discussed a lot but my rear tire is AGAIN worn out. Seems like I just put it on but it has about 10,000 miles on it. I have always used the Dunlop 404 till now and had good luck with them. I wanted the Elite 3 but I don't see it in the 150/80-16 stock size for the rear. Is there a better tire for the 1500 rear without spending an extra $75 over the Dunlop cost? I even thought about a car tire but don't know what kind to get or the handling difference especially with two up. The Dunlop seems the wear right in the middle and none on the rounded edges. Mine is slick after the Eureka rally. :'( I liked the stock Bridgstone as much as the Dunlop.

Tires for the 1500

Hi Zoom. I repied to your message. As you know I just got my E3...I wonder if 40# psi is too much...that would cause wear in the middle.

The 160-80-16 works fine for mine. Same as the Gold Wing uses.

Tires for the 1500

There are enough guys here with car tires on their bikes that I wouldn't hesitate about installing one on my bike. That would cure your lack of mileage on your bike.

Tires for the 1500

I went ahead and got another Dunlop 404 from Dennis Kirk last night. They are only $82.99 right now. I got the tire, a set of spark plugs, rim protectors and free shipping for $108.38. I wasn't sure about the car tire yet. With my trailer hitch it doesn't have a lot of room for a taller tire and wasn't sure of the height of a CT. I needed to get a tire quick for a trip next week to Knoxville. What size and brand car tire will work on the 1500 Nomad that is similar to the MC tire? Maybe I'll try one next time.
