rear Drive oil

Hey guy's: Anyone using Mobil One Synthetic gear oil in the final drive on the Nomad?
Changed fluids today, and I used Rotella T-5 Dino, which I swear by, but defcided to go Synthetic in the Final Drive. Anyone changing this at less than 3K intervals? Hows the shifting, and any noticeable whine or changes? Inquiring Minds want to know.

I think a good number of us use Mobil 1 Synthetic 75W90 gear oil in our final drives. I change it every other oil change, so 6000 miles. Works great.

Same here too on the Mobil 1 Synthetic 75W90, and I also change it every other oil change.

I use the Mobil 1 75W-90 synthetic but I change at every oil change. Why not go synthetic in the engine also? Engine needs more protection than the final drive or so it seems.

I still use the dino oil, and change it regularly. Never seems to be an issue.

Brad, I was actually asking Yumajb why not use the synthetic in the engine also.

Good question Gene! I guess old habits are hard to change. I may go full Synthetic next change. I've have been schooled to believe that not everything new is better, but Syn. seems to be a logical choice if all variables are equal.

I have CRS so change my final oil every engine oil change. (CRS-Can't remember sh*t)

Set the bike down on a 2x4 set flat then add final oil. If the bike is set up dead straight, you will wish you didn't a lot sooner than later too. The book is WRONG.

Yes, it seems that the full synthetic is the way to go as far as protection and lubricating ability. I have used it in my Nomad since the second oil change and I have had no issues. I use Mobil 1 full synthetic for motorcycles in the 10W-40 and Mobil 1 full synthetic 75W-90 for the rear. Seems to work really good in both.

Hi yumajb. There is usually no difference in shifting or noise levels after changing the final drive oil. I change mine every engine oil change. It does not take much oil and only takes a few minutes to change. The shifting usually improves after an engine oil change.
