Passed a fallen rider yesterday....
Not sure what happened to my original post here so I will redo...
Coming over Hwy 22 from Salem to Bend on Saturday I passed a motorcycle accident where a rider was killed. I posted this article link due to the unusual nature of the accident. It turned out that a woman riding pillion suffered a medical emergency and fell off the bike. The exact nature of the medical emergency still has not been determined to my knowledge. Also a bummer was that my wife and 13 year old granddaugter were with me and had to witness the accident scene. http://www.oregonlive.com/news/index...oman_died.html |

...It saddens me to read of any bike accident, especially where there is a fatality. Must be tough for your family to witness an accident scene like that. :(

Bob,
Dan and I saw this scene on our way to meet you and Kris well...terrible. I am amazed at the timing. The article said it happened at 9:45am. We did not pass it until 2:30 and the corpse was still under cover on the highway....and it was about 95 degrees out. What a tragedy for their entire family...the husband must feel awful.

I'm sure that they had their reasons, Greg, although, like you I cannot comprehend their reasoning for leaving a body laying on the pavement for that length of time. Sounds sort of morbid even discussing it, but on such a hot day with so much traffic passing by - I just don't get it.

In many cases they have to wait for a coroner or med examiner before they can move the body. They may have been waiting for one to show up.
