Headlight problem

I have an 07 Nomad, when I returned from a trip east I noticed the headlight was out. no low beam or high beam.
I checked the fuse and it is OK.
because of the the no headlight until the engine is running, is there a relay in the circuit and where might I find it if there is one.
Or does anyone have any ideas where the problem may be hidden

Thanks for any help

Headlight problem

First of all are you sure the headlight is good? you should test it to make sure. Check that the plug is good also and the bulb has a good connection. If the ground wire for the bulb is broken you will get no power to the bulb.
There is a module of some sort that makes the headlight come on but Im not sure where its located, you could check the manual.
There is a downloadable manual available on this sight.
You should also check the hi low beam switch if the previuos tests don't find the problem.

I checked for power at the connection and there is none on any of the 3 connections, is the connection running opposite the 2 parralel connections the ground ?

You probably know this but I will throw it out there just in case.
You have to tap the starter button in order to get power to the circut. If you just turn the key on the connection will not have power.

Headlight problem

I think the top terminal is ground. The others are hi and lo, but the power path is to the switch once the engine is bumped over or is running.

So the next place to check IS the switch. If power comes to it and does not pass out one side or the other the problem then is the switch .

Since the fuse is ok and I assume by that you mean there is power on both sides of the fuse with it installed, then that just leaves the wire from that fuse to the switch, and the switch.

If there is no power to the fuse then you have a different problem.

http://www.gadgetjq.com/hunt_shunt.htm

It's likely the relay.

Check out this procedure which is called the Hunt Shunt. It shows how to check the relay and get the headlight working temporarily.

Headlight problem

Finally found my problem, between rain dates and work.

Hi-Low Bean switch blew up and no power was being transferred to either side of the switch.
Power was coming in but nothing coming out.

Patched with low beam on until the new switch arrives.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Glad to hear you have the problem solved. Guess it wasn't covered under warranty unless you have an extended warranty.
