Are you talking about a true cruise control, as in adjust the throttle to keep a certain speed? Or do you mean a throttle lock, which just locks the throttle in a certain position?

I'm a cheapie, and I only use a throttle lock to keep me moving while I adjust something. For me the cheap Vistacruise works fine. It's usually between $20 and $30.

Here's a site with a picture of it, I don't know this web site- I only took it for the picture, so this isn't a recommendation for the website.

http://www.casporttouring.com/thestore/prods/16021.html

There are other similar ones. Very easy to install, no mechanical aptitude needed.

I've been working on several variations of a throttle lock. This on is very simple, but requires drilling 2 holes into the top of your switch housing. The spring loaded plunger shown is just for set up but when screwed down it holds the grip in position. The one I'll actually use is either a lever type or knob type shown below.

When in the up position the Delrin spring loaded plunger doesn't touch the throttle grip. In the down position it has a spring load of 1 to 4 pounds pushing the Delrin nose onto the chrome part of the throttle grip. I'll post results when I get the hew spring plunger.

YOU BETTER PATENT THAT VERSION OF THE THROTTLE LOCK IF YOU GET BUGS WORKED OUT. I HAVE THE BRAKEAWAY AND I LOVE IT, BUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS TRULY GONNA BE A VALUABLE "NEW" IDEA AND YOU NEED TO PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT. JUST SAYIN----

I recently installed a Breakaway throttle taken off my VTX1300 Honda. I sent it to Breakaway in Portland, OR and for $40.00 they modified it to fit my 01 1500 with ISO grips. Instructions were very good and help/support line was excellent. Very fast responce to questions. I highly recommend them and their product is great. Trout

I like that idea above...

I have a Vista Cruise, but gave thew mount away to someone else who wanted it.

In the pic I set it to be LOCKED, because other wise you wouldn't see it.

I made a small bracket from common plumbers tape, using 2 holes of the piece. I had to alter a allen head to be much thinner.

And I painted the plumbers tape braket black.. pretty simple
