Reed Valve Removals

I have a 2001 carbed 1500 Nomad and I'm thinking about removing the reed valves and associated "plumbing" on top of the engine and adding coasters to cut down on decel popping and I hear that it will make the bike run cooler. After reading Gadget's instructions on doing this, it says that the hose that feeds air to the reed valves goes to a bib on the crossover tube on carbed models. On FI models, that hose goes to the rear of the backplate on the throttle body.
It says to cover that bib with a large vacuum port plug when you remove that hose.
My question is, for anyone familiar with the carbed Nomads, what size vacuum port plug would that be and where do you get something like that?
Thanks for your response.
Don

I don't know what size it is, but Autozone carries an assortment of vacuum caps in various sizes for a few $.

Sanell's aka Parts Plus if you have them, have the best bang for the buck in a caps kit. Most caps in most sizes, for the least money. Beat NAPA and Autozone by dollars...

I have no idea what a bib is/ means.. I can't tell what gadjet means, and I have never worked on a carbed Nomad..

If I could see this i would probably call it something else. All them cali guys have a different word for everything

All the bikes I owned before going back 30 plus years had carbs. Glad my Nomad has Fuel Injection. I really like it so far.

BD , No dig, just is... Cal is like another 3rd world country these days.. Dead broke and still makin the rules! How the hell does that work?

Another thing is when I was there i was told Cal was the tomatoe capital of the world, but could I order salad and get a slice of tomatoe? No friggin way!

I get more tomatoes in my garden, then salad than from anywhere else in the world, but I am no capitol of anything but I will be as soon as I am King!

Don't worry BD I have just the right place fer you when that happens.. You will be in charge of all the NO polyester clothing! Won't that be FUN?

I wasn't aware the reed valves made any noises.. probably because they are in a card board box....
