Headed Back To Afghanistan

My 23 y/o son Adam is going back for his second tour! Adam turned 21 in Afghanistan on his first tour.. Lost 5 of his friends,,This time he has his own squad!
For those that pray, Please do for my son and his men,, Also for all those in harms way...
I am also thinking of a Care Package drive this holiday season.. Maybe send to him and lable the package for a man or a woman, and Adam can pass out! or If you know someone in IRAQ or Afghanistan REMAMBER them and send them a Care Package,,
THEY NEED basic things like Gold Bond Medicated Powder, tooth Paste, wipes like baby wipes and things like that....Go on line to get a complete list of needed items. I ll post a link when I find it... THANKYOU,Rich

Prayers for their protection Rich. My nephew is a Marine and will be deploying there in March, I think. He was home for 2 weeks and left to go back to Camp Pendleton last week. We won't see him before his tour.

I'm so proud of your son Rich. And I pray God will watch after your son and his squad and keep him safe so they can return home and enjoy the freedom that they fought for. My son has ate, slept, and drank Army ever since he was 12 and he's 17 now so I going to be in your shoes pretty soon. People have ask me why I don't discourage him. And I say because it's what he wants to do. I don't explain it any deeper than that because they still wouldn't understand.

Thanks for the link, GREAT site.. and THANK your son for wanting to join..To explain to someone why we are so proud of our boys would be real hard to do. I do not want him to go BUT he is ready and says Its his job,,, NO gripping.....Adam is spending extra time withhis guys prepping them, Him being there 2 years ago is a bonus on how to stay alive....
I was USN 71/75,USNR for around 8 years and USANG for 3. 2 of my othere sons were ARMY.. both out now,,
Thanks again everyone and REMEMBER Our Troops, Rich

Headed Back To Afghanistan

First of all my thoughts and prayers go out to your son and all the troops, sailors and airmen that have to serve in that awful place.

As a 20 plus year veteran of the Navy and then the Army my thoughts are that we need to get out of that place. It is only getting worst and we are losing more men and women each day. We can't stay there forever and once we leave it will be just like it was before.

It is really no different than Vietnam. We spent so many years there from about 1959 with a few advisors to Lord knows how many troops being there at one time. Ended up costing 58,000 plus lives lost and for what? Nixon pulled the troops out of Vietnam and that was the right thing to do. Then after we left the north just took over the south and nothing was won but so much was lost.

So of you may not agree with my thought process but I feel we need to get our people out now before anymore lives are lost for no reason.

Just some thoughts from a guy that was in during Vietnam and saw how our returning troops were treated here at home and while they were there fighting.

Rich,

May God bless your son and his comrades. My father was a Marine - a Purple Heart on Okinawa and one in Korea. I was in the army.

The more I learn about the Marines, the more I respect their tradition and history. They are some tough SOBs.

My prayers are for all our service members.

You got it...... let me know when you start gathering things... A few X-Mass back I had a air force buddy in I RACK, and sent 2 office chair boxes filled with stuff. I didn't wrap things inside the boxes, so no male felame lables were needed, but some soaps were male/female related.

At that time and i would expect at this time MM's were very popular.

Also blank paper, color pencils and all sorts of stuff you can get in Dollar Stores.

Radco when he gets back over there he would know better what a wide varity of others could use better.

Of all in the 2 boxes I sent only a real artist sketch pad and better colored pencils (more colors) were for my friend personally.

They were nuts for salt tater chips too.. I sent a case of cokes which they just about had a war over... I don't think I'll do that one again.....
