Just wondering what everyone uses for cruise controls, or what you would recommend? Ease of installation etc.

Vista Cruiser ($35), very simple, works well for what I use it for (hand relief).

+1

And they're durable, I've been using the same one for 9 years on 4 different Nomads.

Cruise controls or throttle locks? I don't know of more than a couple of folks who have installed a cruise control on a Nomad.

If you mean a throttle lock, the nicest one is the Brakeaway, but it will set you back right smart ($200). The most commonly used and one of the least expensive is the Vista Cruise. I paid around $30 shipped for mine. I don't care for the looks, but it works.

I know Audiovox makes one and someone else does too. I believe they are just generic units and require a fair amount of fabrication and ingenuity to install.

I am one of the few that has the actual cruise control on my bike.
It has set, acceleration, decleration just like in a car. I love it. We've made two trips up to Canada and several other long trips and it works great. But no it is not cheap and I wouldn't put on a bike that wasn't planning on keeping for quiet a while. I got it here:

Al, I don't have a cruise control, but I use this: http://www.throttlerocker.com/

I bought mine off eBay, and I really like it. It allows me to hold the throttle open with my palm and lets me stretch my fingers. It's also a heck of a lot cheaper than other cruise systems!

Yikes! the price has gone up - double what I paid-I think I got one of the first ones when he was still trying to get the word out.

CJ, I meant throttle lock. Thanks everyone for the info. I have Kury ISO grips, does that make a difference?

I was going to put a throttle lock on the bike but didn't have time before I left for Elkins, instead I grabbed a large O ring off my workbench and used it. For the amount I use it it works rather well and I decided to leave it on the bike. Its worked well all summer and is the lowest priced thing on the bike.
Gadget has detailed instructions on how to install the Audiovox unit.

I installed the Brakeaway.....spendy but works very well, even with thick gloves on. Just a short break/rest for the right hand goes a long ways....and on long flat runs it is indispensable!

I had previously installed Phat II risers...which presented another obstacle when installing the Brakeaway. For further info drop me a PM and I can fill you in on what the problem/fix was.

I have the Vista Cruise over the Kury's , and also installed and use the Kury throttle boss. It sort of gives you a one/two punch on options and positions given differing riding conditions.
