What am I doing wrong bike won't start

2003 FI Nomad

The bike has been parked for the past month. I was going to go out for a ride this morning & I could not start the bike. The starter spun the engine over, after about 3-4 minutes the battery gave out. I connected a battery charger & tried to start, but still the same. I even tried spraying starting fluid into the air filter. NOTHING

Here's what I tried.
1 Trans was in netural & clutch pulled in
2 The fuel pump would run about 15 seconds then shut off
3 The kick stand was up
4 I checked the "IGN" fuse & this was good

What am I doing wrong? -Rich

There is a wire that connects to the undreside of the clutch lever that sometimes comes loose. Look under there and wiggle it and push up. See if that helps.

Is your kill switch on the right hand side handle bar in the run position?

It looks like it is on there tight. I don't think I'm getting any spark thru the ignition. -Rich

The starter won't spin if the kill switch is in the up position. -Rich

Is the 2003 fuel injected or carberated?

COME ON BABY...... YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU

IT WORKED,

I got it to start. The clutch safety switch was sticking. The button the the clutch lever push in was stuck in the housing. I sprayed some WD 40 on it & tapped it with a screw driver handle & it released. Thanks again. -Rich

I love it when others have issues that we can all learn from.......as opposed to me.

These bikes have so many switches for safety. When one of them sticks or fails it can be a real nightmare.
