Clutch Master Cylinder Seal Replace
I replaced the Clutch master cylinder seals today, after finished checked reservoir and topped off. Clutch had no resistance and when I started engine and put into 1st gear killed the engine and jumped. My question is how do you bleed the clutch line? and have any of you ran into this before?

Clutch Master Cylinder Seal Replace
There is a bleeder fitting similar to a brake bleeder on the clutch slave cylinder. It's located behind the left side engine cover. You have to remove the shift levers and left floorboard to remove the cover. Once you can access the bleeder, it's just like bleeding brakes.

Clutch Master Cylinder Seal Replace
That's weird if you didn't loose any brake fluid from the clutch system, or suck the master rez dead dry..
I can only guess you tried to hard to get every last drop out of the master, and the air got in that way.

Clutch Master Cylinder Seal Replace
CJ, went back in today and found the bleeder, took a little work but got all of the air out and refilled the resivoir. Seem to be working fine now, I will know better this week as I ride to work. Thanks
Mac when I put the new seals on yesterday this let the fluid out of the line and air got in just as in a break line. Then you have to bleed the lines. I just didn't know where to look for the bleeder nipple. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Clutch Master Cylinder Seal Replace
I mis-read, and thought I was on another thread. I thought the seal was the engine side clutch rod seal.
Reading it right, yeah you sure will loose BF doing clutch MASTER seals! DUH I was way off here...... sorry about that.

Clutch Master Cylinder Seal Replace
Thought I had the problem fixed with replacing the seals, but I took a ride today about 150 mi. and am now leaking oil. I had to put 1/2 qt in the case. Leaking in approx same location as the clutch fluid. What is going on? I am baffeled.

You installed a new push rod seal in the engine case? It isn't unheard of for a new seal to be distorted installing or other wise fail, but it is unusual. I assume you looked at it with care, and installed it greased up, all nice and straight and flat to be flush. This IS engine oil right? Adding any pretty much means it is.

Clutch Master Cylinder Seal Replace
Mac when the heat goes down some here in the SE 99 degrees today, I will go back in and try to locate the source of the leak. It has got to be a seal or something cross threaded or something simple. Thanks for your input.
