Concealed Carry on Bike

I've heard of that stuff happening a lot in border states from gangs. Glenn Beck covered it. I am glad they got her back. As for me, I used to have a CC in NY, but since moving to Iowa I have not applied for one. My small arm of choice is the 1911. If you need more than 7 shots, you are in deep doo doo.

It's a different world today. Just over a year ago a lone gunman walked into a shopping mall in Salt Lake City and killed several people before an off duty cop found the guy and took care of the problem. Look at what's happened at the mall in Omaha, the various universities, fast food joints, not to mention the home invasion robberies and car jackings on the news every day.

When I was in high school we used to drive to school with high powered rifles in our gun racks and ammo in the glove box because we would go deer hunting after school. Imagine the kind of trouble a kid would be in today? You know what, it never, ever, crossed our minds to take those guns out at school, or to use them for anything other than hunting.

Last night in Phoenix two vehicles with strobe lights in the grills pulled up to a house and 4 guys armed with AK-47's got out and kidnapped a 13-year old girl. They let her go several hours later, unharmed.

I haven't hunted for years and sold almost all my weapons, and have only kept a .22 rifle around for the past 25 years or so, but I am considering buying myself a Glock out of pure self-preservation.

I have a .444 Marlin. Do you think that would work? :)

lol...no offense taken...

The guys on the TXVROC site talk about "going cabby" on a cage when they get cut off. If I could get away with mounting a tactical shotgun on the nad...I WOULD!! Slugs outta slow a cager down!

I haven't shot a weapon since high school...other than the water guns at the fair. I have often thought of taking a concealed course. I just don't know. My sister was a cop for 20+ years, she still has a weapon that she carries.

I had planned to carry my 9mm in my saddlebags for my summer trips, but after reading this thread I will carry on my body and pack away in the states who don't have reciprocating concealed carry laws with NC.

Hey buck, we are reciprocal with most states since our courses and requirements are pretty strict comparatively......

I'm a little new to the forum but ot a stranger to weapons. I've been Army active duty for 6+ years now and CCDW holder for Kentucky which has reciprocity in over 30 states. I carry a Sig P229 40cal with an extra 12rd mag on me and two in the saddlebag. I could have sworn that there was a law that passed effective 01OCT07 that motorcyclist can carry a loaded pistol in a windshield bag or saddlebag in Texas. HB 1815 or 1816. Can't remember for sure. It also states that instead of shooting an intruder in your house, you can now shoot the perp on your property as well. But I have had to draw my weapon before and I put a 2 inch shot group into a man with 3 rounds one night in Kentucky when I was stationed up there. The guy must have been 10-12 feet away. It was 10pm at a Walmart parking lot...he had a switchblade and his partner had a small machete and they wanted my truck. I carried a Glock 23 with 2 13rd mags at the time. I killed the one guy and the other fled. THe police found him a few days later. The police took my pistol but later returned it to me proving that I acted in sef defense. If it weren't for my CC, I might not be here.
Cabby, "draws you up" once you lose the adrenaline and get to think doesn't it.

I am glad to hear that you were prepared and saved yourself...interestingly enough, you wont see a full page , front page story touting the merits of concealed carry because of incidents just like yours...imagine that...

Every story like that should be front page news so the idiots like the waste of oxygen that threatened your life will think twice.

True that Todd. I've done 8 months in Afganistan and two 14 month long tours in Iraq. I don't hesitate to squeeze the trigger with some good weapon control. I want my shots to go where I'm aiming. That being said...if my memory serves me right, I shot the first round almost immediately out of the holster, the 2nd half way level to my chest and the 3rd with both hands on the weapon with a good grip. It felt like an eternity from cutting the weapon to the 3rd shot but I'm sure it was fast. Practice practice practice...

TC,

I never shoot fellow riders....unless they are on crochrockets and wanna showboat around me. Isn't that considered disrespectful?

From a Viet Vet. Just remember. If you pull the trigger you live with the results FOREVER! Be careful. I'm a NRA member and card carrying second amendment supporter but make sure you can live with the results.

Note to all KawaNow, if you want a truck, buy your own, don't try to take Cabby's. Hell, I won't even ask to borrow yours. lol

My wife and I have always said we should carry paintball guns to fire at cagers who act stupid. After a certain number of shots, you lose your license and car for a specific period of time so they learn how to behave on the road.
