Ivans tune will cool things to a decent level....the 1700s won't start to really run right until you get about 15k/18k on her. It takes that long for things to get seated....
The 1700s do run hot, their cooling system hasn't been updated that much thru all the updates....the cooling capacity just isn't there for water-wetter, engine ice to actually make a super big diff.

After a bike is Ivanized, the engine won't get heat-soaked as much, and this will allow these additives to work in the way they are intended. To transfer the engine heat to the water so to cool in the radiator.

Only problem, bikes radiator doesn't have the capacity that a car radiator has....

YEP-RADIATOR! If the 1700's had a decent size radiator, there would be a lot less rider felt heat complaints. The only thing I found to reduce "rider felt" heat was a BAK-not as a performance mod, but to get more free air around the jugs. Ivan's ECM flash does a lot of good things, but you won't feel or see heat reduction. A water cooled engine with a thermostat should not have fluctuating temps despite ambient temps, if the radiator is of sufficient size. I spent a good part of 70,000 miles trying to be more comfortable. I finally accepted it as it is and put it back to stock with the exception of the Ivan flash. I can hear myself think and the heat keeps me alert!

I agree with you H8BUGZ they are designed to run at a certain temp and nothing we can come up with will change that the jugs and other parts of the engine will reach that temperature and although Ivan's might make you believe it is running cooler my temp guage once warm never varies at all in a ride stays the same no matter what I do and how I pray and how I think. I do believe the fan comes on a bit more with Ivan's but the heat comes right back if it does cool it down a bit.

It is what it is and nothing we do will change that at all except if we could a hell of a big ice cube around the engine and that is impossible to do.

Ivans tune adjusts some tuning and turns the fan on at 188 vs 200f. That is all he has to offer. Accept it and ride. Remember you are sitting on top of a Motor. It is what we do. The sh&% is hot. It is an internal combustion motor. As we go Electric these problems will dissipate. Not on these current beasts though.

And I love my big ass beasty after Ivan fixed it. I'm good.

The only thing we can be sure of, is when the cooling fan comes on. Compare the temp gauge on a 30 degree day vs. A 90 degree one. You will see and feel a big difference. Does yor car do this-NO! A thermostats job is to bring an engine to operating temp quickly and maintain that temp for efficiently. Our bikes fluctuating Temps per ambient Temps proves the radiator is undersized. I guess we should call it liquid assisted cooling system.

I have run cycle logic engine ice in my Vaquero now for over 5 years and have the flash. The motor actually has run cooler and more efficient by far than it did before those things were done.

Kopperhead send your ECU to Ivan! You will be glad you did!

There is a video on you tube explaining and comparing several of these magic formulas. it's a 3rd party and show you all the steps involved in the testing of all of them including Engine ice and just how bad they are for your engine and this particular one actually ran hotter
