Hate to be the odd man here, but these are the exact symptoms I've experienced twice with my Nomad. Both times it was loose battery terminals.....not much, couldn't turn it with a screwdriver, but with a socket got about another half turn and it was cured both times.

That is why it is good to check things with a voltmeter first. Only takes a few minutes and you can then eliminate that the problem is electrical.

I'll check such things, but still probably time to swap the fuel pump and filter anyway

Damn sure is my friend....anything over 60K, change it....
They have a sneaky way of going out when you least expect it, i'd say if even a hint of a fuel filter or pump acting up, I change them.
It all starts with the fuel pump whinning after you turn the key.

Whirring is fine Whinning is not....

Well, doesnt seem that the fuel pump was the culprit, or at least the only culprit.
Still getting, and progressively worse, hiccup and shutting off.
Definitely not an overheating issue as it starts happening within a mile of starting and take off. Coolant is clean, full in main and overflow. The fan is kicking on as appropriate and not in any sort of pattern of the rough running/shutting down. Feels definitely like a fuel issue.
Made sure there wasnt a low oil problem or dirty oil issue, changed oil and no surprises.
Cleaned throttle body.
Plugs are new (within 2000 miles) and were clean, gap still proper.

What else am I looking at as a culprit?
Ignition coils?

ground termination in frt of the right side cover . see if it is melted . then I would look for chaffing over the rear valve cover or bad switch . check the wiring 1st before you throw a switch at it

I'll look into these. Would this cause the FI light to come on?

Update: took for a 5 mile ride this morning and finally whatever it is gave out. Couldnt keep it running for more than 1/10th of a mile.

Mine looks like that too.
Have you or are you capable of checking things with a voltmeter?
If not, find a skilled mechanic.
You have a problem, so don't keep riding it until you fix it.
Service manual tells how to test the fuel pump, probe the ECM voltages for sensor checks, check for vacuum leaks etc.
You say it was running fine until you got fuel? Have you drained the tank and put fresh fuel in?
There is a lot of possibilities. You have got to do some checking for yourself.

When the FI light comes on doesn't that mean a code is stored? Have you checked the codes?

Hi, I've ordered the pump but do you have the part number for the gasket?

Edit - found it on Quantums site.

Thanks, Joe
