Quick battery question

I did a search on here and opinions differ as to whether a ytx 20 bs will fit in a 1500, i know it calls for a ytx 18 bs but those extra 40cca would make big difference in my mind. I bought another smaller bike and haven't been riding the 1500 hardly at all and the battery is deader than a hammer ,won't even take a charge. Kicks the charger off like it's grounded inside. So it's battery time. Anyone have the 20 in your 1500?

I think you might mean a ytx 16 bs? I don't think there is an 18 bs, or at least it's not common anymore as far as I can tell. A 16 bs and a 20 bs are the same dimensions, so either should work. Both will fit the Voyager, anyway.

You can go to the Yusa web site and search for a battery for your bike. It will probably come up as a 20 bs.

you are right it is a 16. But If you say the 20 is the same size. I'm going to order one.

Slightly bigger battery offers a slightly deeper draw from your battery....a slight improvement in cca's....thats where you need it.... on cold starts.
Look at your battery specs....

Is there a Non-Chinese option for a 1600 Nomad?

Thanks MT and DL, I usually keep a battery tender junior on it but it was unhooked for quite a while during a very cold spell and it's not been right since and now it's just a doorstop.

This is the one I put in the classic.

It’s doing quite well, currently.

Thanks folks. I've always used a Genius tender through our cold winters here. My battery is giving up the ghost now. I guess I can't complain, it's the original from an 06.

One more weigh in on the battery discussion..

I installed June/2018, this in my 02 Nomad-fi

https://www.batterystuff.com/batteri...tx20ch-fp.html

507CCA has not let me down so far. And spins these high compressions engines over pretty handily.

I did have to get a different battery tender to accommodate the Lithium-iron-battery, but it will work on any lead acid battery also.
