Shocks
I have a 09 Nomad and pull a Bunkhouse trailer and if I get it heavy the front will get a little light. It's not really bad but I was wondering if there is a good air shock available the stock ones may be leaking.

I pulled a trailer for almost 20 years and it sounds like you have to much weight on the tongue. In a heavy breaking situation the tongue will apply even more pressure downward and make the front end even lighter. Rule of thumb 25 LB approximately on the tongue.

There are a lot of people using After market shocks on Face book "Custom Vaquero Nation" is one that comes to mind. Some sell their stock shocks. And some sell there Progressive shocks. Seems to be a trend towards air ride and big air canisters. So they sell off the used ones when they upgrade. I do not know if they are compatible, but a lot is with the 1700 frame work.

60 lbs of tongue weight seems excessive to me. Shocks may help, but I would be trying to find a way to redistribute the cargo to reduce that tongue weight some. Plus, if the gross trailer weight is high enough, you might need to consider getting electric brakes for it, if it doesn't already have them.
A tongue weight of 10% - 15% (closer to 10% is better) of the gross trailer weight is generally considered proper for the trailer to track properly. |

I wanted lowering springs and shorter shocks for My 09 Nomad . I checked the Progressive sight for 1700 Nomad ! Nothing WTH ? Sent them a e-mail Response We Do not service Your Bike !

A trailer with a generator wouldn't be a problem, as long as you get the tongue weight where it needs to be....
Its all in how you load your trailer....plain and simple....a few years ago, I pulled a popup tent trailer behind my Nomad, weighed in at 350lbs, but only had 25ib. tongue weight.... Added 7 lbs of tongue weight, I couldn't tell the trailer was back there unless I stomped down on the brakes, or tried to accelerate really hard.... After a few days, it was business as usual....just cruisin down the road....
