New Bars question

I've read a lot about clearances and things of that nature. Love the looks of the JSR and FMB but it seems they only come in 11",12" and up.... Anyone make a similar bar in a 9" or 10"? Seems like bars for a Vaquero are very limited... Thanks,Wes.

Welcome to my dilemma, If you find one let me know. Never found anything. With about a 100.00 dollar difference in the 11" vs 12 Inch most go with the 12. Reroute the cables and call it a day. But if you add a taller windscreen then they hit. Some cut the windscreen.
When I get enough money saved I will be working with a guy for a custom design bar. In the 8"-10" range. He owns a Vaquero so it really helps in the design process.

In the mean time.....

If you cut a piece of 1/2" ID rubber hose to about 3/4" length. You can slide it up on the steering stopper up under the gas tank. Warm it up well spray inside the hose with hair spray/maybe naphtha will work. I used hair spray. it lubes it to slide on. then sticks it there.

You should get about an Inch or so rise in the bars without hitting the fairing at full cock.

Possible fit?? I have not taken any measurements. Seeing how a road glide also has a fixed fairing it may be a place to start.

Bagger bars gets it a little back from the windscreen since they were designed to clear the batwings radio/instrument area....
But, they do look nice on the Vaquero....++ on the custom made bars....expensive but you'll get exactly what you want....probably not in chrome though....

I bought my bike with Don Myers custom made 11" mini apes already installed. Very uncomfortable riding position as I was unable to lean back into my back rest or use highway pegs.
I solved that: I probably, to my knowledge (extremely limited at that) have the only Vaquero with 5 1/2 Harley risers on it. PERFECT riding position, can use highway pegs without looking like I'm horizontally trying to touch my toes, grips are at just the right distance and height.

Not hitting anything. Full use of entire stop to stop turns.

Had to rewire, lengthen hydraulics, throttle cables and figured out a way to get 1/2" SAE risers and riser bolts secured going thru 14mm triple tree top clamp riser bolt holes so they wouldn't wobble around. I love it now.

Ya my stock bars would be just fine a little taller.. Risers would be great for me.... As long as I don't need new cables and can turn my bars all the way, I'd be very happy.... Not sure which risers to buy though.

Me
I am just afraid to do the risers. Many times I hear and see how simple something is, And it really is. Just remove this then install that. Simple enough.

Yet, Things happen. Bolts do not come off, things get stripped. Case in point, the first oil change on my Vaquero. Done may oil changes over the many years. Very simple unscrew the filter and carefully install the new one, wiping the seal with oil before install. Yet it took over an hour and ended up pounding a screwdriver thru the filter 2 times. This was my first 500 mile oil change. Brand new bike off the showroom floor. SO...….. Not a fan of wrenching if it is not necessary.
