Sounds like clutch spring as mine did the same. Replace with Meanie spring and put Judges Washers in as well. You lose the slipper clutch when downshifting though with the washers installed.

Just for info..... Other owners are having a problem finding the "Judges Washers" anymore. I looked on line for someone else and couldn't locate any. dshelly used to make some but I don't know about now anymore. May have to replace the clutch without them.

Ordered a MeanStreak spring and a new side cover gasket just in case. Will try the spring first since multiple people tell me that is all I will need. Wish me luck. If not will get in there and replace discs and all next time.

You will be fine with just the clutch spring. the Judge Washers were for extending the life of the clutch spring only. You can still get 50000 + miles out of it without them.

I replaced the spring on my 07 1600 with a 1500 Meanie Spring at somewhere around 30K. I have around 76,000 miles on the bike now and don't have any clutch slipping yet.

Sounds like the spring will do the trick for me. Gasket coming as well because you just never know how those things will come off and for $19 why not?

The gasket will almost certainly need replacing.I dont know if you have a bike table, but if you dont, lay the bike over on the left hand side crashbars. You wont have to drain the oil,and it makes working on it a whole lot easier, especially when cleaning the old gasket off the casing.I used a box cutter blade.

I'm curious to know if you replaced the plates too.

Excuse me butting in.But it would be the smart thing to do while you are in there. I bought aftermarket friction plates, for less than a 1/4 of the cost of Kawasaki parts. All is good after about 60,000 miles of hard use.

Installed new MeanStreak spring and new gasket. Started it up and noticed the clutch handle took more pull which is the way it used to feel. Letting out the clutch was much closer to full pull in on it so that was better as well. Looked down and oil was leaking around the new seal so took back apart, cleaned and installed old gasket as the new one tore when removing. Put back together and it seems all is good with old gasket. After a day of riding noticed 2 drops of oil underneath bike and thought it might be what was on the bottom where the lower part of seal is and after tightening maybe it squeezed oil that was on rim out. Will keep an eye on it and if I have to will go back with a new seal or some gasket sealer on the old.
