Hot running

I have this in between my water pump, and the front cylinder head.It has not 1,but 2 filters in it.The top clear piece is so narrow and restrictive,it's ridiculous. Can anyone justify this please.Because i just see it as a way to stifle water flow, and over heat the engine.Thank you kindly.

If I am looking at the right part it is called a valve on the parts list.

https://www.ronayers.com/oemparts/a/...8e67e/radiator

Part number 41996 or 16160 ?

Isn't that the water supply for the carb warmer?

Cap it off and be finished with it.

Thank you all for that.I must have put it back together wrong the last time i had the motor out.So where does the black hose, that was connected to the top,and went to the front cylinder head,go now ? And what about the other black one that was connected to the bottom, and the water pump.Should i just blank that one off ?

Surely that would leave no water running to the head ?The black hose coming out of it,has no where else to go .

Why not just put it back the way it was and forget about it instead of trying to re invent the wheel

Because it looks like a bollocks of a job to me.I cant understand why its not one long hose, the same diameter at both ends.It must be passing water, but its so strangulated,it's ridiculous. The top white thing, had a plastic filter in it.I dont know what's inside the black one.

Maybe they wanted it strangulated to reduce the flow or increase the pressure for some reason ?

All that stuff is part of the Emissions Crap, and only works under the intended ultralean conditions. All the water lines for the heads are the big honkin' ones....
As long as the bike warms up some, it'll take your throttle fast....thats the only reason to warm your intake and the carb. Notice, the FI bikes have no choke, and run superlean, mixture wise. Also makes for super long ring and bearing life in these engines....
Oughtta see all the mess on the ole VRods.....

Thanks for the reply DL.But i ripped all the emissions crap off,and did away with the carb warmer,a long time ago.Where does the big hose, that comes out of the front cylinder head go to.Because i cant see anywhere else for it.

Mick

strange modification indeed looks like bollocks to me.

for sure someone removed the OEM carb warmer line whichs goes from front cylinder to carbruetor to water pump.

then they (them) (aliens) (mechanically inclined in the realm of the unknow folks) added your line shown. step into the Twilight Zone

options
1. cap off both areas.
or
2. buy two mini c-clamps and rubber fuel line hose and attach.
or
3. buy all new oem parts and install

I posted up some pictures of before and after carb warmer line in my past posts.

removed my oem warmer lines and stored them
