Mustang Seat Reupholster

Anybody ever redo their solo Mustang seat? The foam in mine is absolutely gone but local shop wants $175 to redo. Not thinking thats a great deal. I use a sheepskin with it but the foam in the seat is shot. Suggestions?

Buy some foam and do it yourself ? The staples holding the cover should come out easy with a screwdriver. Then buy some 2565 foam and shape it with an electric carving knife and a flap disc on a 4 inch hand grinder. Use a fine grit flap disc so it doesn't grab the foam.
Have a local upholstery company staple the cover back on.

Thank you for listing specific foam; however you can not staple a metal seat base. Assuming that the specific Mustang seat plate is Metal like mine is. I did have my stock seat re-shaved to make a flat surface to sit on. and that is Plastic so it was re-stapled. That was 60 bucks, so $175 seems about right, using all new foam, if you like the final seat.
Shaping the seat yourself, not knowing how the stock cover fits could make the project a futile effort. They are the experts, Pay the money or buy a new seat seems to be a better bet.

If its a steel base it can be pop riveted. I presume that is how the Mustang cover is attached ?

Sir, 175 is cheaper than a new seat. I see you are in Big D. Well, maybe call some other shops? I love my cushy Ultimate seat. It was not $175. Enjoy the heat. Hope you weren't effected by all the rain and flooding.
