Guess I am a CHEAP SOB.
Have 50k on my 2012 Voyager. Have really enjoyed the bike. That being said, I keep looking at new bikes just because. Any of the newer bikes I look at: 2108 Gold wing, Road Glide, Indian Roadmaster, Yamaha Venture are just below or above the 30K price range. I think the electric windshield would be nice, had that on my ST1300. Other than that the infotainment center and heated grips and seat are the only things I don`t have now. Infotainment upgrade and heated seat mean nothing to me. Wouldn`t mind heated grips, but will probably add them sometime pretty cheap.
I could afford a new bike if I convinced the wife that I deserve one. I just can see spending that much for 2 wheels when the riding and performance wouldn`t be much different. I guess that makes me a cheap SOB. I could buy a new car for close to that.

There’s a lot of us cheap SOB’s out there. I’ll never own a new bike unless I win the lottery and I don’t see that happening. When I wear out my Voyager I do think I’ll get a GW but who knows.

Just because your happy with the bike you have dosen't mean your cheap.
$30,000 for a motorcycle is crazy.

I cannot justify owning two wheels for 30 grand or up that is just crazy. I love the Indians would love one but the cost is just out of sight even if money was no object I cannot see spending that amount especially when I have just about as nice a bike out there I believe with my Nomad. The quality is there that is for sure as much as the others and the cost is not up there even new.
The other problem I would have with an Indian is their accessories packages and products are far to vast I know I have a accessory phobia that does not allow me to stop. So that is other reason I would not own an Indian or Harley. I am very satisfied plus I have a bike that there is not allot of out there compared to the big name brands. I love that idea in itself I am different. Now with Ivan's Mod I have done I can suck up any Harley or Indian on the road I am sure of that. I doubt if a stock Harley or Indian could touch me at all. I am proud of my Nomad and be even more proud once it is back together in May and I am riding her again.

Yeah, I have decided to keep the Voyager. I really like it. Rode 70 miles today in 40 degrees. Nice and sunny. My hands didn't even get cold with my heavy winter gloves, guess I don't even need heated grips.

I'm a cheap SOB myself for sure. I had been looking at the Voyagers for a few years but with teenage to college years killed the "will own one" syndrome. With mega overtime the last year and a half, and craigslist ofcourse, I ran up on a deal of a deal. Paid $9800 cash for a 2015 model with 5036 miles and 16 months warranty left on her. Yep, did the Irans reflash and V&H slip-ons from Ivan also. Waiting on my time allotment for the RDL seat upgrade and will still be about the same as what the 2012 Voyagers are going for around here.

Test ride bikes to see what you're missing or what you're not missing. When I sold my Nomad, I test rode a voyager, vision and ultra and then the dealer that had the vision also sold BMWs. Tossed the keys and said have fun. Had to put gas in it to get back to the dealer. I think the biggest mistakes a dealer makes is not having a test fleet. With HD, I had to follow the salesman for a 4 mile ride and with the Voyager, they wanted me to stick to a short 10 mile ride. If a bike is any good it will sell itself after a ride. I'd also suggest have an open mind in terms of bikes. If I didn't ride the BMW, who knows. It was a pleasant surprise.

I'm on my 5th bike & this is my first new anything. And at that it was a N.O.S. 2012 I bought in '14'. That's how I was raised, Dad knew people who could get good deals on used cars. Or he would buy a car with body damage & fix it up. 5 years later sell it & do it again. Not because we were poor, that's just how he was.

The fit and finish on my 2007 Nomad was much better than the 2005 Suzuki C50T I owned before it. The fit and finish on my Harley is much better than the Nomad. You pay more and you get more.
