Ok so I have everything done! rear tire removed, sing arem bolt removed but the drive shaft won't disconnect from the spline gear. if there a lock pin or something? If so where it is I can't find anything like that.

Yes, there is a little hole in the front of the driveshaft where it connects to the motor. Push a small nail or pick in the hole and you will feel a spring depress. then the driveshaft can slide off. Be very very careful that you don't lose the tiny little pin that is in there. It is what locks the driveshaft to the motor.

I am not so sure that the pin is crucial.Mine got lost several thousand miles ago ,and has made no difference. The shaft cant go anywhere.I know of a couple of other people that lost theirs too,and have had no problems

It's there to make servicing the bike easier.
It keeps the shaft from coming out when the swingarm is dropped. If you've ever had one not want to line up correctly, you'll thank MaKaw for that little pin. But your bike isn't going to blow up without it. My 1500 Nomad hasn't had one, in at least 9 years.
