Rear Brake Assembly / Movement
Quick question guys and gals, should there be any movement with the rear brake, namely the Caliper? All bolts are tight but there is slight movement when I try to move the Caliper. I ask, because there is absolutely no movement with the front Calipers, so I assumed there should be no movement with the rear caliper? I can move the rear caliper slightly side to side, is this normal?

Doesn't sound right
Quote:
If you are talking about the actual Caliper and not the Pads then they should be pretty solid. I would start by making sure the 2 (12mm If I remember correctly) bolts are tight on the caliper. Did you recently have a rear tire changed? Is the rear tire torqued to spec? The brake mounting bracket is held inplace by the axel and when everthing is where it is supposed to be it should be solid. Also note - the pads float inside the caliper. Let's see what others say. |

I'm not positive on this but Kawasaki calls it a floating caliper on the rear.
"Single disc brake, diameter 265 mm, double-piston floating caliper" So I would say it should move a little in order to "float".

I'll check mine tomorrow
I'll pull off my right bag and give my caliper a few tugs - Maybe I learned something today.

Mine is a 1600, but all 3 (2 front and 1 rear) will move by hand, not easily, but you can move them.
