Greg, sounds like a fun trip, stay safe and try not to wear out your tires before red lodge.i am good in that regard with fairly fresh T30 GT'S on the c14. The ninja is a blast but a real tire sheader. At 1700 miles the stock brigestone S20'S were down to 3/32's of tread left.i been riding it a bit aggressively but it doesn't look like they will even last 3.000 miles.See you soon.

I use Michelin PR4GTs now and have used PR3s before. 10-15k miles depending on the front or rear.

I just bought a new one of these as well. I am hearing good things about it. I noticed better handling. Handled great on Highway 1 near Big Sur California.

not sure why kawi chose to put soft sport bike tires like the hypersport s20 it came with on a bike that they promote as a sport tourer.then they turn around and put t-30 sportouring tires on the versy 1000 which is pretty muck the same bike with a detuned motor and more suspension travel.

So I am on Day 4 of my SoCal bike ride.... you don't really realize how much traffic is in Southern California until you ride the freeways on a bike in 90 degree heat.

I have a rental car for a few days so I won't have to deal with it until I return. I am thinking I might hit a little bit of Yosemite on the way back depending on the weather.

I know one thing. I will be on the road at the crack of dawn when I head back to avoid the heat and traffic.

When most folks talk about S Cal they are talking about urban areas and ignoring an outstanding area to ride.

Go 100 miles east of the S Cal coast and you are in some very nice ridding country with many good rides/roads with little traffic.

I know what you mean Bill, I grew up down here and I come down for business about once a month.

The problem is you have to fight so much traffic just to get to the good spots and hope it is not scorching hot or windy when you arrive.

I am sure Dave , Brad, and Cliff all know the secret roads that are less traveled.

The coast is cooler and more scenic. You just need to catch it when school is in session.

I won't complain about the traffic in the Portland area anymore, at least I can get away from it in 20 minutes.

Can't wait for the empty roads in Montana. My favorite state to ride.
