Driving lights. L.E.D. or Halogen ?

Hi every one, I'm looking into a set of lights for my engine guard. Last time I did this the only option was Halogen. But with all the L.E.D.s on the market I'm wondering if that might be the better choice. One of the L.E.D. sets I'm looking at is bar shaped & I wonder if I would lose too much light going through a corner. Thanks for any advice.

Seems like they are competing for crowded real estate on the engine guard with the highway pegs.

I would like to see setups with both mounted on the bikes.

Interesting idea, but $200.00 for this Vs. $40.00 from Walmart. And I would really prefer not to drill holes in my engine guard.

On my old bike I made a u-bracket to mount some underwater LEDs like this:

I found some that matched the heat color of my LED headlight and also some that were 3 for $20. They were great! There are all sorts of underwater lights on Ebay to choose from and most are really cheap compared to lights that are packaged for motorcycle use.

How well do they work ? I sometimes ride in areas with out street lights & my first warning that a critter is about to step onto the road is the reflection of light off their eyes.

I don't think those lights would work well for driving lights. I'd bet the projectors in them are designed differently than the ones for a driving/headlight.

For that, they worked as well as any actual running lights. They were brighter than the halogens I had previously, but also had a more narrow arc that they lit. I think my headlight gave me more warning of critters on the side of the road than any running lights ever did.
