floppy kickstand

well i put the nomad on the jack and started to take the left side apart to get ready to change the cam extender when i found my kickstand was very floppy. got to checking it out since i had to take the left side cover off anyway then had to unbolt the start bypass switch just to get it off. found my bolt and hole was worn. stopped by dealer and got a new bolt then started to look for a bushing to put in the hole after i get it drilled out so it is round again. all i cane find is a bronze metric bushing the new bolt is 12 mm the bushing i got is 12 mm id and 15mm od. my qwestion is will the bronze bushing work or do i have to try to locate a steel one instead? i will be out of town the next couple of days and was wondering if i needed to keep looking or if i can use it and be alright? 2007 1600

Bronze will work just fine. Just keep it lubed up and It will last a long time.

Don't understand why these never get lubed, but you will now huh?

Do the shift linkage too while yer at it. ALL metal moving parts require lube, unless it is made of pressed oil bronze, and it will to in about 3,500 years.. i ain't gonna worry about that.

Worn out hole and a floppy kickstand. Not a good combination. A little reconstructive surgery may be in order here.

The bronze will work fine. If the fit of the bronze is a little tight into the frame (which would be ideal), you may have to re-ream the hole the bolt goes thru, after it's in the frame. Like others have said, every now and then, it needs a little lube.

For $50, I had a local shop repair mine. He drilled out the hole a little larger, put in a 1/2" bolt with a new bearing. Works like a charm, now.

when i did this repair last year i got my bushing at the local menards store and a new factory bolt that combo worked good.

oiling these once in a while will prevent this or at least help .
