Vancouver Motorcycle Show
First off let me be clear that this is only my own impression! A motorcycle show in January does help with the blues, but after this show I'm back in the funk. The top production line makers were there in force ! with a dizzying line of new bikes to fit what has to be your every need. I'm sure in that not to distant future many of these bikes will be discontinued .. just to many choices.
My impression is that most of the new bikes all look the same. The cruisers , they are all trying to look like a Victory, more plastic, sharp lines, and increased price tags. More belt drives, even on utility bikes, of which they all have an entrant. The usual array of helmets, jackets, gloves .. etc. etc. All in all very ho hum .. yawn. $14.00 admission, plus parking, I could have gone to a movie. I still love my Vulcan Nomad !!!

I've been to the shows in Calgary (and before that Edmonton) just about every year for he last 10 or so. I keep saying that I'm going to go only every 2nd or 3rd year as there just is not enough new stuff to see when you go year after year. I guess I just keep going as its a good time to hang out with my buds.
There are lots of nice bikes out there but nothing that would really make me want to trade my Nomad, especially for the $$$ that would be involved. Mind you a second dual-sport bike (a KLR650, maybe) would be nice for the times the pavement runs out.

I agree, "the Nomad does everything I need".
Bring it on Various Baggers, you know who you are

I always see fun possibilities if I had money to burn and my knees were in better shape but still prefer my Nomad over a lot of the cruisers.

We have no secrets, Duffy. There are some things that I just don't tell her about!
We were looking at pictures after my trip with Hammer to Sturgis in '07 and after the 20 or so pictures of the wet t-shirt contest my wife said "well, it's pretty obvious why you wanted to go to Sturgis!" My response: "Duh, you didn't know that before??"
