Save a dollar in Nashville

Decided to pay a visit to the huge Opryland hotel in Nashville tonight. Went up the driveway, saw the sign 'Self Park' and turned in. The sign beside the boom gate announced the minimum cost to park is $21. Twenty one dollars to park outside a hotel, just to go inside for a beer.

So, if you ever get the urge, park over the road in a public car park and get a cab to take you to the front door of this imposing pub. Cost of the cab $5.

It's a big place and interesting to visit. But $21. Gad, that more than the price of a tank of gas. $21 or 200 miles? Not a tough question to answer.

How far is that car park, is it like an Aussie *just up the road*.(300 mile's at least) A $5 cab ride to cross the road is a bit drastic, or is it better than getting mugged or just plain shot.

I think that was good thinking, and I don't blame you for not wanting to pay $21.

That is a nice hotel. I stayed there for a week a few years ago.

Cindy and I were there on the bikes in 2009.
We parked the bikes in the bus lot right next to the hotel.
Toward the rear and out of general view.

It's right next to a giant mall with a massive (free) parking lot. Very cool place and worth just wandering around if you're ever there.
