The discussion of a different pump on a Nomad has been brought up quite few times.
A pump from an older Mitsubishi (the fuel pump on a Nomad is made by Mitsubishi) and aftermarket kits for the pump being sold on Ebay and elsewhere is supposed to work.

I dont remember anyone recently posting that they had actually found an alternative to replacing the complete pump.

It will be interesting to see if an aftermarket kit actually works and what the part numbers are to help out others in a similar situation.

I don't see why you couldn't get another pump to work, you may have to be creative and adapt something but it should work in the end.
We have part numbers listed for aftermarket pumps in our tech section.

Correct. But the threads there do not state that anyone actually tried the parts listed and made them work.

Or am I reading it incorrectly ?

Yes I too would like to know that Autozone Fuel Pump Part Number.

As I have had my Fuel pump apart twice trying to clean the attached Filter but it is still squealing most times. Seems you cannot reverse flush it because of its check valve.

Northern Dancer,

Thanks,

Ron

I wouldn't put an electric fuel pump from Autozone in any of my vehicles. Oh well, it's a simple process on a motorcycle so it won't be too bad when it fails again.

I have both pumps I purchased from autozone,

PN# E 8023 and PN# E 8455

I should know for sure tomorrow whether one of those will fit/work or not.
If not I will have no choice, but to order the ones from the dealer at 650 bucks.

The E8455 would be the style of connector that would be used on the 1600's( plug style) and E8023 style is for the 1500's(terminal style). However, ever though the pumps look alike the sizes are different too. I had to get the E2111 for my 1500, that I carry with me for emergency. I had bought it a couple years ago when I was having fuel problems. I did make a couple of adjustments to make it work and it did but since the fuel pump was not the problem I put the oem one back on and carry this one with me for spare.

The first picture shows the similarity of the pumps but the size is much different
The second picture shows the oem on the left and the E211 on the right.

Third picture shows the fuel inlet of the oem pump and the E2111 pump.

The forth picture is the rubber gasket that goes on the inlet side of the pump. The oem is on the left and the one on the right is the one from the larger pump that is in the first picture. This will give you an idea how much bigger that pump is compared to the oem one.

The outer diameter of E2111 is about an inch a half and so if the one you have is much more than that then you might have the wrong one.....I hope it is not.

Did your 1500 OEM Fuel Pump have an integrated Filter? If so then one would need an external Filter to make the E2111 work. My 1600 Fuel Pump does include a Fuel Filter which is part of the Pump and when this filter get clogged the Fuel Pump will squeal.

Should this E2111 Fuel Pump Gasket fit and it be made to connect to the internal wiring (one might need to solder the Wires) then an external Filter at the outlet Hose would be a better idea??

Norther Dancer,

Thanks,

Ron

Replacement pump, http://tinyurl.com/ozdb93c http://tinyurl.com/l6zf5px

I put on like this in mine 4 years ago. Replace the filter with auto filter. Match it up at auto parts.

I was just told by Kawasaki shop, "Those Autozone fuel pumps wont work. they are automotive pumps NOT for Motorcycle!"

So please folks, before you post misinformation, do your homework and make sure of what you say!

And you believe them?

The filter doesn't know what kind of vehicle it is in.

The fuel isn't any different.

That's like saying you have to buy a Kaw oil filter for $13 instead of a car one for $5.

They just want to sell their part @ a 50% or more mark up.

This was NO help to me!
They should NOT have posted this UNLESS they had actually known this was for sure, or at the very least state that they were not aware of anyone who has tried this.
But having said that, most likely, as mas tequila has stated, the Kawa Shop makes more money using thier own parts, but I have no choice but to go with the more expensive pump, however, all is good, as I can at least return the Autozone pumps for a refund.

I was told that a pump from bikebandit costs $540. so they aint to far from that.
My question at this point would be.....Has ANYONE actually installed a "alternative pump" that worked??? And yes, I will admit, that should have been my FIRST question, so my bad...

I'd buy the pump and install it myself. Don't give the dealer any more money than you have to.
