I have never seen any posts about someone who does not like their Daylong seats.
I did 450 miles on mine on Saturday with no issues.

They are expensive for what they are, and they use your own seatpan, but if you want to ride long distances in comfort they are the way to go, for me anyway.

Day long is the choice of iron butt association riders. 1000 miles in 24 hours you better have a comfortable seat.

Sorry my point was people complain saying the Ultimate seats are too expensive but the day long is more expensive.

I've tried 3 different types now, maybe I'll try one of those next? LOL

Unfortunately some people will never be comfortable riding long distances no matter what seat they have.
For me the Daylong seats are the ones that extend my riding enjoyment.

Yeah but then you can sell the aftermarket seat separate when you sell the bike. Getting a few more RDL's in circulation also helps the guys here.

We need to look at the net investment ...not just the initial investment...and not ignore the enjoyment factor. You can buy just the front RDL seat for a Nomad ($395). Then you sell it for close to 60-70% (say $275?) when you sell the bike. You will have shipping and the cost of a used seat pan but still pretty reasonable if you can afford to tie up the cash.

I so wish I would have bit the bullet on an RDL when I first bought my Nomad. Would have saved me 4 years of butt agony and made so many miles more comfy.

Kind of funny the money people pay for chrome, mods, and a few extra ponies on a bike that will never be fast....but they won't first invest in a seat that makes every mile better on a bike intended for long miles/comfort. I was one of them....learned my lesson. I did not waste much money on chrome and none on power but I did waste money on trying pads , beads, airhawks, sheepskin, etc.

You probably made Marie pay for her half of the seat

I heard back from Ultimate regarding the seat break-in period. Was told that it will get a little bit softer over time but not by much. I have another week to decide whether I want to keep the seat. I need to take it out for another long ride but weather looks to be crappy until sometime next week.

Seat Comfort

I paid about $650.00 for the Corbin seat I have. They use their seat pan. Because I was able to ride in for the seat,I was able to take it for a test ride before it was covered. When I returned I told them I wanted the seat widened in the front under my thighs. That provides more lift and support taking the weight off of my tailbone area. No additional charge. I also had them bucket the seat more and move the bucket forward, cause I'm kinda short. 5'8". I heard Corbin will do one mod to the seat, no charge if the cover is not changed. I would ask on that one to be sure. But my wife and I love this seat. My son put one on his Triumph Thunderbird and he loves it. He is 6'1".

How much support you have under your thighs is more key to comfort. They make these seats comfortable when you sit on the showroom floor. But they don't do any thing for the long haul. Look at it from an ergonomic angle.

Ride it down to your father's house on Sunday. It's suppose to be 85 and sunny.

I just read on a custom seat mfg site that they won't even make adjustments to the seats that they make until the rider has 3000 miles on it. Maybe your seat will break in after some miles.

http://www.hartcoseats.com/KAWASAKI/...rest/1833.html

read the warranty section on the adjustments.
